Day in the Life of a Local Forum
Thought I might start what might be a funny thread about things we typically find when reading this forum. Here is my first example:
Hey, did anyone loose a gold necklace? I found one on a sidewalk in town, so let me know if you lost yours. Joe Schmo April 3
It’s “lose” not “loose”. Idiot.
Grump April 3
Your the idiot. You forgot to place a comma after “lose”.
Fido April 3
Stop it! You’re all a bunch of spelling nazi’s
Fido April 3
Hey, I really take offence to you saying “nazi’s”
Alf April 3
(25 Posts later)
I lost my necklace yesterday
Jen April 4
Uh, Jen, what does that have anything to do with what we are talking about?
Rocko April 4
If anyone else what's to give it a go, I'd I think it would be fun to read.
Usual daily post: Lost dog, golden retriever, on Oak St.
Einstein: can u post a picture?
Wow why not call this the Judgemental post....I forgot we live in a perfect society ...My judgemental post for the day...LMAO
"Your the idiot. You forgot to place a comma after “lose”.
Fido April 3"
Hahaha, it's "you're", the contraction for "you are", not the possessive "your" - pot, meet kettle. That was funny;-)

Out of curiosity, are you picking on "Einstein" for asking for a (recent) photo to judge what the size and distinctive markings the dog may have, or the OP for not having posted a picture in the first place?
As the OP said, for fun...
Phil, Einstein is sarcastic for someone askn’ for a pix, a specific breed at a specific location and time. No picture needed unless a truck o’ goldens crashed on the corner and they’re running round.
Heres some more:
OP: I had escargot in Paris.
Earl Weaver: they have snails in Baltimore you know.
OP: does that biz provide (insert product/service here) tia.
Capt Obvious: why don't you call them
Don’t worry about the lost necklace it was probably a teacher who lost it and they make too much money so they can just buy a new one
Yes, they do have snails in Baltimore … I remember watching Boog Powell and Ken Singleton play LOL
Hear about the snail who bought a race car? He painted a big red letter S on the side door, so when he drove it down Colorado Blvd (in Pasadena of course) the folks would all say …
look at that S-car go :-D
Andy
Love that - I remember that joke!

People ask for a picture for many reasons. It's partly to more personalize the experience and get more people involved. Also, the dog's not going to stay on Oak Street, though indeed, the likelihood of another Golden being loose in the same general area at the same time is unlikely. There are pro's and con's to both arguments, but I'd always side with asking for a pic if it hasn't already been posted as I think most dog lovers would, i.e. "I just saw someone letting a dog with those exact markings get into a Light Blue Subaru with license # "3KYQ482" on First Street. Was that you or a neighbor or family friend picking it up?"
There also could have been one off leash at a local park that someone could have mistaken for the lost one, diverting the search in the wrong direction. There needn't be a "truck o' Goldens" that were freed by hitting the overpass/underpass/tunnel/trestle to spawn confusion, as could happen at the 11' 8", or its little brother, the 10' 6", though they aren't here in H'town.
By the way it's " askin' " or "ask'n' ", not " askn' " ;-) ;-)
I think CBGB will get how much I put into this "for fun", but not sure everyone will, so don't get too riled. I'm giving examples myself.
Nicely done ! :-)
Oh...And be sure to ask 16 questions about a new business, critique their menu, prices, location….and never go there !
Why post on a local forum at all? Just call the restaurant and ask the chef if he cooks the burgers exactly how you lkke them. Call the BID if you want to know the Memorial Day parade route. Call the town if you want to know about shed permits.
Lost pet postings are very common on the forum.
Just to help someone I have made a trip to look for some of these lost animals-a picture does help.
Haven't found one yet but I'll still try.
Love for an animal and love from an animal are real things.
Keep posting your pictures.
