Fatal Accident RT 80- 9/8 Mile marker 28
I just read on Hackettstown Patch there was a fatal accident on Rt. 80 Westbound. All lanes are closed Westbound as well as the 3rd. lane Eastbound. It was last updated at 2:37. Evening commute could be very long.
I would rather be the one stuck in traffic than the poor family getting the devastating phone call that their loved one has passed. That is far worse than an annoying Friday evening commute. Prayers for the family.
While our commute may be longer tonight at least we will get home. That poor person will will never have that opportunity ever again.
Two different accidents...two different fatalities. One on east one west- close exits very odd---one after one pm one after 3. Bad energy in that space.....wow...send prayers to families please.
Enough of the "at least you get to go home to your family" crap. Horrible events today and no one is disrespecting the deceased.
Just made it home, an hour and a half from Cedar Knolls but no complaints, listened to the radio and kept reminding myself, at least you're getting home. Clyde has been stuck on the East bound sides in Mt Olive but is close to getting Route 80. I would say steer clear if you can.
Darren you have a Chevy logo by your name that looks like a ford mirror oh and I travel eighty every day in the slow lane 65 &70 mph and get the horn and finger pretty often lol
I find it sobering when I hear of a fatality on the roads I travel daily. Personally, I find it helps put my problems in perspective. That's how I feel, doesn't mean everyone has to.
Company car....free gas and maintenance and don't really have a choice unfortunately.....only car that doesn't get a garage spot!
Agree Bessie, I've been stuck in traffic sometimes huffing and puffing about being stuck, then you pass a bad accident it does give you a jolt of reality, and perspective.
I have Never seen so many accidents on route 80. Now it is at least one a day. I don't understand how our car insurance rates don't explode. People not paying attention and in some cases just risky behavior. I don't get it, accidents seem to have exploded
You need to remember these highways are absolutely flooded at rush hour. The chances of accidents are much higher.
Every time I'm on 80 there are idiots treating it like a NASCAR track weaving in and out of lanes without using blinkers. There's part of the problem right there.
We don’t have enough cops patrolling near us people fly every time it rains someone is turned around near Waterloo overpass
Agree with Metsman !! It is a NASCAR Race on 80 !! High speeds, close following distance, weavers in and out of lanes and impatient drivers!! Driving 65mph (the Speed Limit) makes you look like a sprinting turtle. So Dangerous!!
Please Be Safe
I have found that the drainage around the Waterloo overpass is very poor. The left lane almost always floods during a rain storm. Even if you do slow down, you can hit that section and hydroplane, especially at night when you can't even see it until you hit it. I've learned if it is raining, get to the far right lane in that area just to be safe.
