Knee replacement
If anyone has had knee replacement surgery, can you tell me how it went and who your Dr. was?
Lombardi at Tri County. 15 pain free years and counting. Both done on the sane day.
Dr. Dundon has an excellent reputation. I saw him several years ago in Hackettstown for cortisone treatments on my knees (no surgery). He is very nice and explains things well. He did move. He was in Bridgewater, but I think he has opened his own practice on Rt.15 near Sparta now. You can probably find him online through Google.
Was scheduled for a knee replacement 10 years ago. Didn't have it done and started taking higher dosages of Glucosamine and chondroitin - which acts I suspect like a lubricant in joints. For a number of years after - until I retired I walked 3 miles before breakfast and had an active, physical job. Occasionally I feel some discomfort but don't limp and can still be active. 15mg of Meloxicam helps a lot too - even if your knee pain is cured other joints will likely cause arthritis discomfort as you age.
There are people who've had a knee replacement and were really pleased - and others not so much. I believe it can only be done twice in a lifetime and carefully following rehab drills is very important.
I'd check around for references - there are some variables in results. I'm 72 now and most likely will postpone knee replacement until mobility or pain forces me to reconsider.
Good luck!
I’m a quite a bit younger than Bill, but I have to agree in the glucosamine and chondroitin. It’s the only supplement I e ever taken that I can actually feel the effects. For me, it only takes 3-5 days of daily consumption and it like oiling a squeaky wheel.
Still hobbling, you say stay away from Deehan but you don't say why. Can you elaborate? If not then I'll assume there's no basis for your opinion.
I wouldn't go to that doctor mentioned above either after he recommended an expensive and painful EMG test that had nothing to do with my medical issue - to satisfy his curiosity he said . There are some real grifters out there looking to take advantage of seniors and pad their bank account once they know you are fully insured - buyer beware .
