Typical charges for Hackettstown apartments
Hi,
I'm hoping that someone can help me with typical costs with the apartments in Hackettstown. My daughter, her boyfriend and their two kids have been living with us and they want to go on their own. I'm trying to guide them by creating a budget plan so they can make sure this is possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated such as average electric cost, cable cost, parking, garbage or any other fees they might encounter.
It's tough times for a young family and I just want to make sure they will be ok.
Thank you in advance for your help.
I have a 1 bedroom at Towpath Apartments. My rent is $1800 per month for a 1 bedroom. I pay about $30 for water and sewer and my electric runs about $40 per month. I have Xfinity triple play and I pay about $240 per month for cable/internet/phone. Garbage is included in the rent. Hope this helps. Best of luck to your family.
My son lives in Countryside Gardens and his heat is included in his rent as is water and garbage pick up. He pays for electricity, cable and phone. He lives alone and is in a one bedroom so I expect your costs may be higher but his electric bill is minimal...about $25.00 per month. I pick up his phone bill and I am unsure of his cable (Xfinity) costs.
Best of luck.
PS He is very happy at Countryside.
Check out apartments.com. They have different places in town rental prices. Also some homes for rent. The site also shows what is included with each rental place.
Victoria Village, on the dead end street behind the Dunkin' on Mountain Ave. has 3 of the $2200 units available. The $2000 units are upstairs or downstairs only, whereas the more expensive ones are townhome style, where you have a living room, kitchen and 1/2 bath downstairs and two bedrooms & the full bath upstairs.
The set up is great for a couple that needs to get ready for work around the same time, and the privacy is much better than having an apartment either upstairs or downstairs alone, though you may hear a neighbor plodding or running up or downstairs at times, but usually nothing worse than that.
As far as expenses, you have to pay for your own cable, gas and electric. There are washer/dryer hookups upstairs next to the bathroom in a W/D closet. An over/under single unit is good if you take your bedding somewhere else to wash. A stackable pair of front loading units work, but are hard to install, so you have to figure in those costs, unless you just do all your laundry somewhere else.
I'm not sure if an end unit would be more expensive heat wise, but it depends on how you program your thermostat and how much cooking you do with the gas stove, or a microwave or air fryer. Both Gas and electric usually are no more than $160/month, and in some months are much better, going down as low as about $80/month combined. The units have central air, and that's more economical than running several window units. Cable is up to you, but I'd recommend a new user package combo or just internet, with your own add-on apps. I think I started at $180/month, but it's now $290/month and I'm about to cut that mess out.
So $2200/month with 1.5 months down for first year, but expect increases every year after. Water is supplied, but gas & electric figure about $80-200/month combined, more if you do more laundry, etc. Cable is variable and is currently through Comcast/Xfinity only, or T-Mobile type 5G.
Items to buy would be their choice of washer/dryer, or come back to parents house to do it there for social time;-)
Oh yeah, here's the link for Victoria Village. Apparently there's also a $50 application fee. They also have their own website through which you can request maintenance (non-emergency, of course), pay rent, and as of this year, renew your lease:

If you have any other questions, just PM me and I'll try to answer.
Just don't move into Mansfield Village! Rent goes up, and nothing is taken care of. No nice place for children to play, and the laundry rooms are disgusting. Very thin walls. Cops, fier company are always in here. Badly owned by large company.
