Air pockets in water supply

Hello forum members. This morning here in the Hills of Independence I noticed air pockets when I ran the water in my home for the first time. I'm not sure why this happened. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

There was a water main break. It has been repaired.

had white cloudy water in fill tank after noticing sputtering toilet valve and lifting lid, all other taps were producing the same when checked by filling a bottle. Ran all cold taps for approx 15min and water became clear, then emptied out hot water heater until water ran clear. Advice published online instructs to start on lowest floor of your home and open all cold water taps first, working up to your top floor, until water from all taps runs clear, then start over with hot water until it is also clear, before any using water for anything at all. Do not drink or filter to drink any of the cloudy water - it is apparently not safe.

Thank you Greg for the information concerning the water main break. That explains the reason why air was in the pipes.

And thank you netiz1 for your insight concerning how to flush the pipes in the home to clear the lines.

Are you connected to Hackettstown city water? I thought Independence properties all had well water. I know I do and do not have any air bubbles. I'm just curious.
