Coin appraisal
Hello,
i checked old forums and all them are closed so trying to start a new one if you all don't mind. I have some coins that I am curious if they are valuable enough. Never had done this so I am asking for input/recommendations. If anyone knows of any reputable coin appraisers to recommend, please do. I did read the older forums and got some tips to look out for in case appraisers are not good. I am sure coming from anyone of you would be reputable enough. Also, does any one knows too how much they charge by any chance? Thank you all in advance!

Bill.E You can check for the coin values books in the public library.
The one to use is the Blue book, if you want to find out how much a dealer will likely give you for it, based on the grade (condition):

The Red Book tells you what a dealer is likely to charge you for that coin. It's the retail guide, as compared to the Blue book, which is the wholesale guide.
Both books give you guidance on how to judge the condition of the coin, like telling you which details wear quickly, and bring the coin down from "Uncirculated" to "Extra Fine" or below.
As I mentioned at first, the best way is to check out the one you want from your local library. If you have a few coins which seem desirable, or you're unclear on, there's a Coin Show held at various places in the area. They have one at the American Legion on Willow Grove every so often, and at the PAL in Parsippany. I'm sure there are others that aren't far away. Best of luck!

I searched for the coi show and looks like once a month in Aug, Sept and Oct there is one in PAL and at the America Legion in Hackettstown in Oct. I will try one of them too. Here is the link in case other folks maybe interested

I went to the place right on Main St. in Hackettstown, across from the jewelers. He was fair and honest in my opinion. In fact I had enough to go across the street and pay half of my wedding rings. He also bought some gold from me.
