Craftsman Air compressor won’t work

Hi all,
Any one have an idea where I may take a 6 gallon pancake Craftsman air compressor to find out why it’s not running? Much appreciated.

Call Sheaffer Supply in Dover they may know who will look at it.

I would simply google your issue. Compressors are very simple and you will most likely find the procedure to determine what is going on with it.

Most times those small power tools and similar are not worth trying to repair. However, if you want someone to take a look I would suggest the gentleman that is now on Willow Grove between Pine & Musky Ridge (used to be closed to the start of Rustling Road) by the name of Chuck. 852 8664

Thanks a bunch guys!!

I googled "Craftsman air compressor repair facility" and saw a link to

https://www.searspartsdirect.com/diy/air-compressor-repair/1234674

which gives you "Do It Yourself" instructions on how to troubleshoot your air compressor. My first guess would be if you don't regularly drain the condensate water generated from operation, that needs to be taken care of.

The site also opens with a 10% off popup at the beginning to use for any parts you need to order. Granted they may be a bit more expensive, but they're guaranteed correct. The first place to start would be your Owner's Manual, which should have troubleshooting instructions, a parts list and a number to call for factory approved service facilities.

Unfortunately, those little pancake air compressors are almost disposable items depending on how often you use them.

Very true, and they can rust out fairly easily due to not draining the condensate after every use. If you don't use it often and don't get in the habit of draining them, it will wreak all kinds of havoc.

If the . air compressor is gas engine powered, you might want to try Mt. Olive Small Engine Repair on Rt. 46 west in Mt. Olive east of Budd Lake.

I just read about not draining it.... when I get home that’s the first thing I’ll do but I but it’s done for

Those ear splitting noise makers? Chuck it.

Unless you absolutely have a need for a tiny lightweight portable unit- and even then I would look at something like a www.californiaairtools.com/

The difference in noise alone is fantastic. The actual performance specs are also probably better, regardless of what the label says on the Craftsman. Those pancakes are only good for something like a stapler. What are you using yours for?

That being said- if you keep your eye open on craigs list- a lot of cool old stuff pops up every once in a while. I have an awesome tiny compressor that is probably 70-80 years old that is so quiet I literally would have no issue pumping a tire in my driveway at 2am. Bought it on craigslist for $60 and it is built like a tank. GE motor turning a pulley to a belt driven oil filled, awesome finned, cylinder pump on a hot dog tank on casters, with a tank pressure gauge and a pressure regulator w/ gauge.

Guy was happy to sell it- I couldn't believe the deal.
