Dog Dental Cleaning

I would like my dog to have a professional cleaning. I believe this involves being under (anesthesia) in a vet's office. I have a 12 lb, 7 year old dog.

Any one have any recommendations on a place that does this? Approximate cost?

Thanks

All vet offices will do a dental cleanings. I've never had a dog's teeth cleaned, but I had to have a cat's teeth cleaned 10 or so years ago. I believe it was between $300 and $400 back then.

All vets will do cleanings and they often run "specials" for the service...contact your vet of choice and inquire about any discounts. I utilize the Newton Veterinary Hospital and they do an excellent job.

Depends on what your dog needs. Mine just got done and they did blood work a week before to make sure she was okay for anaestheia then gave a high and low estimate depending on what she might need. Even though she's 10, her teeth were great so it was only about $300, no pain meds , antibiotics, surgery etc.

I just called for an estimate at 2 vet offices in the area and both were in the $500 range. They do require bloodwork as JYM stated.

hi, how bad are your dog's teeth? I do know of a product that can rid your dog's teeth of tartar- it is called "Petz Life" and it really works!

After the cleaning, consider brushing the dog's teeth. My daughter's vet checked her dogs' teeth at last visit, to see whether a cleaning was needed. Told her he'd never seen such clean teeth on a dog. She brushes their teeth every night.

Any other thoughts?

Not sure what thoughts you are looking for. Start with calling your veterinarian and ask for an estimate, realizing there may be a low and high range of price.

I stopped letting my Dog do Dental Cleanings. Felt like I was barking up the wrong tree. Too many pauses during the procedure :>)

Wow.
I have been traveling over an hour in each direction to take my dog to his vet. I can't believe how much cheaper a dental cleaning is up here. I had it done in June and it was 1075.00 with two that had to be removed. My vet said he gave me a discount. Could you all please recommend which vet is good for small dog.
Thanks
