eapos They are doing utility work on Grand Ave. on Fri. The police will be directing alternating traffic through the tunnel.
Patti Soon enough the concrete work will begin on grand ave and then it’s gonna be milled and paved from softball field and go under the train trestle and stop on the other side of the trestle
Michael lets hope they fix the bump at 5th ave and use collars on the sewer manhole covers to maintain the street grade at one level
eapos...I agree nice job.. although as you mentioned I wish they had put risers on the manhole covers to bring them to grade. Otherwise nice and smooth.. worth the wait.

GreatMeadows We could learn a LOT from other countries in the quality of our road work.
The attention to detail is abysmal- while the cost is absurd.
....and no- weather and truck traffic is not an excuse.
I'd wager much is due to 'good enough' combined with intentional future work.
The lure of the pocket book is greater than the pride in work.
Being on cross country road trips is eye opening as you can cross a state line (sometimes county line) and see a MASSIVE difference in quality- with similar conditions.
Josh They know him much product they are going to use just mill the streets to the proper depth. Can’t be that hard if it’s your business.
I have to agree with GreatMeadows...very frustrating that you still have to avoid the manhole covers unless you want a good bump. However, it is a massive improvement overall.
I remember when Willow Grove St. by the hospital was paved many years ago. They did not do anything about the manhole covers there. I still try to avoid those bumps every day.
evets Manholes half the drop distance of the unpaved part from 1st ave to Main street, not perfect but a lot better. We should be happy anything was done on this crappy piece of road.
It would be nice if Morris County would mill and pave Schooley's Mountain Road (Route 517) coming down the mountain to Newburg Road.
This section is getting much worse with all the patching of the potholes.
This won't hold up when we get freezing weather in 3 months.
KMC That section of Schooley's Mtn Rd was just milled and paved a few years ago. They need to fix how the road drains first.
ManAboutTown I noticed that Grand was a race track from the railroad tracks to the "speed" reader sign. People in front of me took off like a bat outa H-E double hockey sticks, meaning close to 40-45. May be time to station HPD there for a bit of enforcement and/or discouragement, until things calm back down.
Phil D. HPD would rather stand at red lights waiting for drivers to take out their phone or cigarettes. Forget about speeding in residential areas. The real danger lies in removing your hands from the steering wheel especially when the vehicle is no longer moving. People would speed down the road that I grew up on and my dad nagged for speed monitoring or speed bumps which never happened despite cars moving at about 50mph in a 25. He stooped to keeping a large plank of wood in the street. Not big enough to damage a vehicle but large enough to entice drivers to slow down
