Ophthalmologists in or near Hackettstown?

Went to Dr Chase (now retired) for years. Recommendations appreciated.
(I do not want to use an Optometrist.)

Chase was sending copies of his records to a Dr. Kaden

Just went to Dr Kaden as a former Chase patient. He was very nice, very thorough. Not a big talker so I had to ask a bunch of questions (unlike Chase who told you everything)
Staff was very pleasant, helpful
I felt the overall exam was more thorough than Chase, using different forms of technology. Kaden did not perform all parts of the exam although he reviewed the results from each part. He did mention that he was playing catch up as he received many patients from Chase
Assistant mentioned that Kaden was doing Chase’s surgeries for about a year, even before Chase retired
My husband goes in a few weeks so we’ll see what he thinks
Kaden has many, many great reviews and awards
I will return in the future….

I don't know if she is an ophthalmologist, but I went to Susan Freed after Dr. Chase retired. She was extremely nice & thorough. She is located upstairs over Manhire Opticians.

We go and have for many years a Dr Pinke in Succasunna.

He has done cataracts on both eyes for both of us.

I have heard that there is an ophthalmologist in Chester. I have heard several negative comments about her.

Go to Dr. Lawrence Najarian in Bedminster (400 Main Street / Rt. 202). If he is in your plan, he's only about 25 minutes from Main Street in Hackettstown.

I think he has 5 star ratings (or very close to it)!

Very smart, very thorough, very caring.

I also recently saw Dr. Najarian in Bedminster. Needed adjustments to my cataract surgery. I liked him a lot and my procedure was quick & painless in his office, but he does keep you waiting a long time. A loooong time. I sat for 30-40 minutes for all 3 visits. So bring a book and a sweater. And his staff was not especially pleasant.

Bernie - The opthalmologist you mentioned is Chester is probably Dr. Nikki Silverstein and she is wonderful! Very thorough, friendly and caring. Many other people I know have said the same.
I don't know what negative remarks you heard about her, but I can't believe they can be true. There is a long wait time in the waiting room to see her, but that's only because she doesn't rush through her patients, as so many doctors do these days!

I second the positive comment about Dr Silverstein. She’s a fine physician and a lovely person.

a friend found her testing crazy--way over the top every visit

Where is Dr. Kaden's office?

May 3, thanks for the positive remarks about Dr. Silverstein! Also, why would someone ever complain about a doctor's testing being over the top??
I would call that being extra cautious & thorough. That's what I want in any doctor I go to.

Joyce, totally agree. I am not a patient of any doctor recommended on this thread, I go to a great guy in Long Valley. He does a lot of tests that I thought was weird at first, but he is super nice, and very caring. When I inquired during the first visit, he said that when he started his career, it was in NYC and his mentor told him just get them in and get them out. Don't worry about them, and don't get personal. Well, I have to say, and I rarely say anything or even post on here, but Dr. Moore at Long Valley Eye Care told me personally that he quit that job within a few weeks, and decided he wanted to do the opposite. Not a lot of patients (compared to a city), and perhaps not as much money, but to do what he was trained to do. In my opinion, which isn't worth anything if you don't know me, I think he is a FANTASTIC person and great eye doctor.

Hello - I tried to start a new topic to find an Ophthalmologist but the moderator took it down as this search already existed . Unfortunately this thread is over two years old - so if anyone knows of a good ophthalmologist who also does cataract surgery that they have had a good experience with lately please let me know. Thanks for any help!

Dr. Niki Silverstein - Chester, 908-879-7297. I've been seeing her for several years and is very competent. The office could be very busy at times but don't let that deter you.

Kaden did cataracts for Lappin at the end of Lappin's career. He was recommended by Harold and a good thing. He is top notch in education, skills, and professionalism.

BUT as Ziggy noted, he is the silent type ---- YOU need to ask the questions. It's as if he is shy because when you ask questions, he opens up.

I have eye damage issues, Lappin and Kaden crucial to my success. Both my wife an I have Kaden cataract fixes --- my damaged eye and both for her. Very successful.
