Dunkin Donuts on Main Street?
A couple of friends from town have told me that there is a Dunkin Doughnuts going in on Main Street, kind of close to Quick Check on Stiger Street. Has anyone else heard this or know if it's true. There are so many around us that I find that hard to believe.
I would rather see a small niche coffee shop go in. I frequent The Coffee Potter in Long Valley and would love to see them open a shop on Main Street. It would be so much easier to get a good cup of coffee on my way to work in the morning.
I love the Coffee Potter! I don't drink coffee but am a big tea drinker.
Sorry I cannot answer your question though.
So it would be on Stiger not Main street. It sounds like pure conjecture to me. I have not seen anything in the minutes from last years meetings of various boards. They are posted on Hackettstown.net. The 2018 minutes have not been posted yet. But who knows I could see a DD in that area.
I'm sure Jim L. could shed some light for sure.
I should add the council minutes for 2018 are posted.
I can't imagine QC having a DD inside its store. They put a great emphasis on their coffee program. It would not make sense for them to bring an industry leader into their store.
They could very easily put one in an empty storefront in that mall..like they have in mansfield..the b yram quick chek had some kind of fast food place years ago
DD has been looking to add another store in town for awhile. To my knowledge nothing has been finalized. If Phase 2 of Bergen tool ever starts that would be where they could possibly look into but my guess is they want a drive thru and there was no drive thru options in Phase 2 retail design. In fact, I don't see any lot on Main St that would have a drive thru capability.
YO Jim L. Why don't you promote Phase 2 of Bergen tool and make DD one of your priorities?
That is such a mess back there and that was not the original plans of this property!
Yo Bernie how would you like me to “promote” Phase 2? The planning board approved the plans in Nov ‘16. It’s up to the developer to actually build what was approved. His approvals expire in Nov ‘18 after that they would need to come before the planning board to ask for an extension if they havent started build by then.
D&D going in across from M&M in the Krauser bldg. Hamburger 25 going into Leos building !
Greens Beans is ok but it's so sleepy inside. They won't be at Centenary much longer and I think a upbeat coffee shop with a great product would be awesome!
We need more quality family owned businesses in town and not the chains like DD.
Just discovered the donuts at Weis. They have twice the jelly or custard that DD has. The selection is not as great, but we've tried several varieties and they have all exceeded expectations. We've found that DD donuts quality has been terrible for years.
The donuts at Weis are the best around. The entire Bakery product line is excellent. I have bought several cakes from them too.
Peanut butter filled? I've never heard of a peanut butter filled doughnut. Does it have powdered sugar on the outside like a Bavarian cream or jelly doughnut?
I once bought a donut at Weis thinking it was maple frosted, but it was peanut butter on top and jelly inside. Didn't care much for it. I also thought they should have had a sign in front stating what the donut was, just in case someone did as I did and they have a peanut allergy.
We need something like a smoothie shop or heathy shop where they make acaci bowls and everything.. yumm
Calico, I think they're usually chocolate iced with the peanut butter filling.
Weis also makes an "angel cream" that's powdered outside.
I heard DD was going in the former tanning place at the Sonny's pizza mini mall.
Calico, they don't always have that variety. You might want to check before making a trip.
twentytwenty- Did you see Jim L's post above? He stated the DD is fiction. He is a council and zoning board member here in town. He is informed on such matters.
I know they looked at the Enzo lot which is in hackettstown and decided against
If they are looking at Sonny's Strip mall then sorry I’m out of that loop as that’s in Independence
But I would guess they would want a drive thru considering how busy the Mountain Ave one is
What about the abandoned building on the corner of Plane and Main, next to Ashley's? There could be access to the side street via the parking lot and obviously a Main street apron. I know it's unlikely but it would be nice if something could move into that spot.
2020 I didn't realize you referenced a different location as I read it quickly. Sonny's has a Hackettstown address therefore I figured it was located in Hackettstown. I had not pinpointed the exact physical division of the two towns in the 27 years I have lived here however I will make it a point to ascertain the exact location via GPS coordinates to be sure I don't make such an egregious error again. Thanks for your approval though- it means so much to me.

not necessary. just don't critique someone's post. Other municipalities with some Hackettstown addresses: Mansfield, Washington Twp. Morris County, Mt. Olive Twp. Morris County, Allamuchy.
2020- I wasn't critiquing your post at all. I was just pointing out it was mentioned earlier in the thread by an informed, regular contributing poster. I can't tell you how many times posts are entered mentioning something, asking a question etc where the answer was already supplied in the thread. It shows many people don't read the entire thread.
Clearly this time I was in error as you were talking about a different location but whoa Nelly does it happen often! LOL
Only been to Green Beans once, and that was when I walked past it. Have tried going a couple times, but their parking lot is terrible. Can't get in or out in the AM during my drive to work.
