Camping at Stephens State Park
Has anyone camped there? Is it okay to bring a cooler with beer, wine etc? Are there outhouses and other amenities? Looking for a place to camp for a few days just to get away.
They have a very nice campground but alcohol is not permitted. Why not enjoy the nature clear headed?
Here's a link to the park website - check where it says "camping":

Here's a link to the printable map linked to on that page:

Here's a link to "reserve America" where you go to make reservations (though you can make them at the Park office when open with a transaction fee). Under "services and amenities" it states "bath house" which I take to mean showers, as well as the flush toilets that are by the main office (no showers at the main office though).

Alcohol and pets are prohibited from the camping section of the park, as it states in the first link.
Stephens State park is a state park so pretty rustic. No pets, no alcohol. This park has lavatories but no showers unless things have changed. The campsites are nice.
We took our kids there for their first time camping when they were very small, just to be close to home in case things didn't go well. They loved it and we've been camping ever since.
Try Jenny Jump. Nice cabins, very little chance of traffic (unless you pick the one or two sites closer to the road, but a very low traffic road, probably mostly rangers on it.
If you go on the weekend, you will have to put up with the Hispanics swimming in the river like it was a resort (despite the no swimming signs) and the mess they leave behind every weekend from their fiesta.

Maybe because I enjoy having a cold beer or a glass of wine while I'm camping?
Stephens is busy and near noisy roads. If you want a more peaceful experience consider Worthington State Park on the NJ side of the Delaware Water Gap, not far from Stephens. Great place this time of year. Alcohol 'prohibited' so be discrete.
