JCP&L Billing Increase

I just received my July 2026 bill from JCP&L. This bill is $20.00 more compared with 2025 for the same amount of usage. Not sure how JCP&L can justify this amount of an increase in costs to customers. Has anyone else experienced an increase in their electric bills?

Ours went up $150/mo back in April.

Additional electric demand from data centers.

Yup; $20 is a deal! Big increase, mickie did something to knock it back but not sure how much, who, and when.

Need more data.

What was the initial amount vs now?

Meaning $20 on a $80 bill is huge

$20 on a $400 bill... not so much

I never paid more than $120 during the summer months with 2 eco-friendly AC'S running, usually never at the same time. This past month I paid $185. That's just craziness for an apartment!

Josh, my electric bill from July of last year was $80. This July it's $100.

I want to clarify that my electric usage was the same this July as it was for last July. The only difference was the $20 increase this year. I'm a senior citizen living on a fixed budget so $20 means a lot to me.

Ask Trenton.

"Trenton" has been telling us for over a year I think.

The average increase is 16.9% so NVet is spot on the money. "Trenton," aka Mikie has passed a number of reductions, probably will not help any of us: * https://www.google.com/search?smstk=ChhLSCtSQjlhU29KQXB5b0M1VmNtUmtYdz0QBBgA&smstidx=0&q=what+did+mickie+do+about+energy+bills&udm=50&csuir=1&aep=34&kgs=d0ca63981093c0c2&shem=epsd1%2Crimspwouoe&shndl=37&shmd=H4sIAAAAAAAA_3XNOwoCMRSFYaeTaQRLqyDYCCZOYyHuJdw8uLmYx5BkmLFzWa7BdbgQFbQS2wPf-dtH025GB5UZMiyQPpNlJjFQaajMRpvxwhR5X1YnV2tfjkKM48ixVKikuU5BFAtZu12fU0gCKMjiIFtZ3RBUBPK8j7hefjWmhN5yILGdTdfFtbnN7438900B0BahMkRDET8aJWYwZGMV3fSzyZePBrKR3WFv-nf-CZoelvHnAAAA&shmds=v1_ARwrE20-uFHr3E6tmyH3eftANweZy_QmYrVEJv5IqNGm5D-Vhw&source=sh%2Fx%2Faio%2Fm1%2F5&sei=icBjavziF4fbptQP0fKW8Q8*

Most important, everyone gets $25 --- that's one and a quarter months covered for NVet ---- yippeio for nothing.

You ain't seen nothing yet , it's going to more than double in a very short time when these AI data centers ramp up . That's probably why the new governor ended the ban on building new nuclear power plants in this state .
