Speed Way Gas Station Main Street
Anyone know what’s up with the Speed Way station on Main Street? Is it just a rehab, new owner or something else?
Let a quick online search be your friend! LOL
"Speedway gas stations in New Jersey were sold as part of a larger acquisition by 7-Eleven, which purchased all Speedway locations from Marathon Petroleum in 2021. Following the acquisition, some of the New Jersey stations were also sold off individually to other buyers.
Acquisition: In 2020, 7-Eleven announced an agreement to acquire Speedway for $21 billion. The deal closed in May 2021.
Individual Sales: To satisfy regulatory requirements, 7-Eleven was required to sell off some of the locations. This resulted in a separate process where some New Jersey Speedway and 7-Eleven stores were sold to different buyers.
Status: The acquisition means the brand ownership changed, and the subsequent individual sales have resulted in some former Speedway locations in New Jersey being rebranded under other names or operating independently."
The question remains ......is it going to be rebranded or repurposed for something else?
All the 7-11 stuff was in 2020, and it's now 5 years later.
Between this station and the one on the other corner, things are looking bleak.
Again, thanks for the comeback
The deal itself finalized in 2021. There were time frames and phase out periods. That kind of thing takes a few years to complete.
I would guess that site will likely be rebranded but you never know. There are 7 other stations in a very small radius, 8 if you count the one on top of the mountain at Naughright road. Plenty of fueling options.
LOL. They do seem to be multiplying lately!
I see there is a stop work order on the window...
