Water LIne Repair Coverage
Looking for opinions on water and sewerage repare coverage. I live in a townhouse community - moved in 6 years ago. Townhouse were built around 40 years ago. Our HOA does not cover these repairs. Since I moved in there have been around 5-6 houses that had to have their sewer/water lines repaired Was wondering if anyone has this type of coverage. Any opinions good/bad - company recommendations - appreciated.
Depends on where you live, if in Hackettstown also depends on where the meter is located in relation to the leak. could be covered or not depending on your answers
Margaret, I live in Valley View Woods and have noticed this too. I've been debating getting additional insurance to cover this. Would like to hear more feedback from the community .....
If the water and sewer lines were installed properly (sand, not rocks filled back in around the lines) anything installed 50 or less years ago should last a very long time. Insurance coverage wouldn't be offered or promoted if the insurance company had to pay out for repairs rather than collect premiums.
I keep getting insurance-type offers mailed to me from Veolia for my water lines. I ignore them, but i will follow this discussion to see what people have to say about it. I do know one thing though. If you do opt for this coverage, I would make sure you can hire who you want rather than having to deal with someone they provide. I prefer to deal with local services.
Rob - I also live in Valley View Woods , on Canal Way and this has me really concerned. The prices for this type of coverage from the companies I have looked at average about $15 a month for both water and sewer lines. I agree with linesome dove, I would also prefer to deal with local services. I'm going to look into further. Thanks everyone for comments!
Got 40 years or more in this house; parents, two sets with wife, for another 50 years, 10 houses, no leaks. At $180 / year; I can breakeven at $7,200 for myself, 18,000 for parents.
While you can never tell, seems risk is more rewarding on this one. $15 is one pizza a month; enjoy the motz.
Check to see if covered under your homeowners insurance as endorsement (not all companies offer).
When I lived in Hackettstown and now in PA, I used American Residential at 1-888-508-8886 or 1-800-341-3624. e-mail - www.arwhome.com. the only trouble is that you usually
have to wait three months, but double check.
Depending on what State, they charge $125.00 for coming out. But they cover everything in the house. I had them over twenty years. If they can't replace them, they replace them
after three tries. GOOD LUCK.
I went with Home Serve - Cost me $155. for one year - after half price introductory rate- no service fee - covers up to $7,000 for Exterior Water service line and $10,000 for exterior sewer/septic line - there is a 30 day wait period before you can make a claim.
As I said there have been quite a few problems in my area the last few years - But I feel better knowing I'm covered for at least a year.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!!
I tried to start a new post but was not successful.
Allamuchy has a water main break and there is a boil alert for 72 hours.
So …. why is it that I can not start a new post?
