Best place to eat?

Can someone recommend a great place to eat & drink in town?

James on Main is the best restaurant in town, but it's BYOB. Czig Meister and Man Skirt breweries have great beer, but they are BYOF. The only place with decent food and a liquor license in H'town is Marley's.

I like Stella G's for food but only open for breakfast and lunch. There are other places outside of town, but pretty close, that have both - thinking of Taphouse in Mansfield.

Main Street Cafe - They serve Columbian/Mexican food & also has fantastic desserts. It's BYO. Very casual so if you are looking for something with more atmosphere, The Tap House on Rt. 57 is very good.

Ok so I realize when reading the post again that you probably want a place with drinks. Panther Pub for casual bar food or Mattars for more of a formal atmosphere are good choices as well.

Churrascaria Paladar is just on the other side of the river on Route 46, great food and a full bar. Great rodizio and great atmosphere.

How much you wanna spend? That will dictate where you will eat.

James on main is the best around. Convenient to czig miester, man skirt and shop rite liquors to bring drinks.

Mama's now has a full bar. Food is good. Ask for their rewards card ..... you always get a discount.

Mamas hands down. Check out the menu on line. So many food choices, clean and nice people who live in and give back to this community over and over again.

Just a note: Mattars is really not that formal anymore which is why they changed their menus many years ago. I enjoyed going before the change but I've been many, many times after the change up until recently and they were just okay for me. Nothing to brag about at least for their more "expensive menu" that is. IMO

The OP asked for places to eat "in town". The majority of the suggestions are out of town. LOL

I didn't realize Mama's now has a bar. I wonder where the liquor license came from?

Greg --- it's really nice. They've had it for quite some time now.

Pandan.

I'll be sure to stop in. Tom and crew never disappoint!

I just had a slice of their Veggie Combo pie.
OMG heaven..

Greg - When you stop in, ask where they got the liquor license from. I'm curious as well.

Mama’s purchased Leo’s liquor license a few years ago

My wife and I went to
Mamas earlier this summer.

No complaints.

Ah that makes sense. Now the nosy part, which is none of my business, is what the purchase price was.... Had to be six figures I would guess.

Such silliness. Limits business for no good reason.

I have a family member in Florida, his liquor license was something like $40 and apparently anyone can get one.

Well that solves my retirement. I'm going Florida and opening a simple food cart, like a hot dog cart with booze. I'll set up on a beach. Two choices: A beer or a beer and a shot of tequila. Keep it simple I say. Lol

Funny you mention that- I told my wife we should move to Florida, open a breakfast burrito place right next to a bunch of the hotels at the beach - simple ingredients, fast, easy. Paired with Sierra Nevada Otra Vez. Yum.

"Friendly's"

No, please no. For ice cream it's ok, but most dishes are fried or deep fried this or that. Virtually nothing is gluten free nor anywhere near heart healthy. I mean for those that are down for stuff like that, there are better and tastier places to buy your increase in heart attack potential. If you want basic comfort fried food, then have at it all you wish, but I likely won't be hanging out there except for the occasional Banana Split/Jim Dandy, which we all know is health food;-) ;-) (wink wink nod nod)

PS: Yes, the people are friendly and I usually get great service from there, though I always make jokes that the cloth used to clean the tables has never been rinsed out completely because so many times & in so many places the tables stick to your forearms;-p
