Nightmare nails help
I know that someone here is going to know where to go and what to do! Okay so about 2 weeks ago I went to studio nails by IHOP to get my nails done, full set of gel with gel polish. I paid $70 for these nails only to have 3 of them break 2 days after?! So I return to have the owner Sara fix them and she ended up charging me another $30 to fix them! Now again they broke and are cracking everywhere! :\ I don't know whether to forget it or to ask for my money back because this is just not fair! I never get my nails done and this was a treat to myself and all I ended up with was a nightmare! What do I do? And can anyone recommend a place that won't screw me like this? *no bashing*
Your nails take a beating doing this. If there not super strong and you use your nails alot and hands cleaning, dishes, etc it happens.
Gel nails are usually strong. Did you go longer than your actual nail? I used to get gel there years ago, and never once had a break. And my nails are paper thin. I no longer do gel. Nobody around here can do them without causing nail damage.
Other than that, Pure Spa or Coco.
Try the nail salon next to panera on 57. Elim nails. 850-1966. They may be able to help you. I think the nail gel guru, gina, is her name.
And by the way, the first time I went for a pedicure at that salon by IHop, I had a rash from my feet to my knees. Gross. Needless to say, that was my last trip there.
Sorry to hear that. I go to Queen nails in the A&P plaza across from Johnson Dodge. The staff is very friendly and they do a great job. You will not be disappointed.
Luxury Nails on Mountain Ave, across from the Quik Chek has a very well trained staff and the place is immaculate. I've had gel nails, pedicures, massages since they opened, and have always been extremely pleased.
Good Luck!
The salon by IHOP is horrible! They rush you out of there and I don't feel they do a very good job. I would ask for your money back, but honestly, I doubt they will give it to you.
Co Co Nails and Pure Spa are both good. I also like Lily's Nail and Spa but it is a bit of a trip as it is in Mine Hill on Rt. 46.
I'm sorry you had a bad experience. I would absolutely go back in and ask for my money back. It's unlikely that you will receive it, but make it clear that you are not pleased and you will make sure everyone knows about it.
In the future, I echo what others have said above. Go to Coco (appointment necessary), Luxury, Pure Spa and I'll add Nirvana in Budd Lake.
The nail places around here do not do a good job w/gel nails. Luxury nails does not know how to fix a broken nail - they add a fake nail and then coat it with gel - that does not last nor is it the correct procedure. A broken nail should be built out with just gel. I used to live in Bergen City & no place out here compares to how salons in BC do them - I don't know why. I recently tried Jane's Nail in Danville and they did a great job - it's a drive yes, but my nails are lasting 3 weeks and not breaking. Good Luck!
June at Pure Spa is the best.. been going for a few years now.. never have issues unless i'm rough on my nails... make sure to call for an appointment she is popular but you will love her....
Pure Spa on 517 is Wonderful!! After trying three different salons, this is it!! Friendly, courteous, no pressure.
Everyone has added suggestions for new salons. However I suggest to ask for a refund. If they are professionals there should not be a question
Gina at Elite Nails next to Panera Bread. The best. Been going there for years. Gina only.
If you don't get a refund, file a complaint with the Board of Cosmetology

I've tried almost all of the nail salons in Hackettstown and I was only happy with one. Coco Nails is VERY nice, but they are a little expensive if you get a full set. Also, you have to make an appointment whenever you go, otherwise you'll typically get turned away with how busy they get.
For the past 3 months I've been going to Queen Nails which is in the plaza across from Johnson Dodge at the top of the hill going towards Budd Lake/Mt Olive. I've never had a nail break and they always do such an amazing job. If you go there, ask for Linda or Katie :)
Steph1 - what do you have on your nails? Are you doing UV gel? I've had such a hard time finding a place around here that can do gel nails correctly. Thanks!
Just came across yr post. Wow So let me understand you went back with a issue with the Service you had? And explained the problem? As a business they should have fixed the problem right away. No questions asked and also given you a freebie of any kind, maybe product or service to keep yr business . As I understand you were charged 30$ for a fix? To be honest sounds like they didn't believe you. As many customers try to hone in on freebies with a complaint. Especially if yr not a regular . But still not ok with a charge of 30$ If You never complained or other issues.. Just a bad owner not understanding business protocol . Happens all the time. That's why they don't last. Any complaints should be addressed and rectified. Good Luck
Painted nails.
What an over-rated phenomenon.
A real first world *problem*.
Women don't need such nonsence.
Your conduct speaks higher than an artificially painted body.
Luca,
I have a full set, but they're purely the gel-- not the acrylic. This is the best place I've been to where they actually last for weeks. I go every 3.
Funky nails in ledgewood. I go that way once a month to have a gel manicure and pedicure and they do great work. It lasts the full month with no chipping everytime
Happiest girl ~ have you ever considered that like make up, colorful manicured nails make women feel good, pretty and confident? It is a luxury, and relaxing way to treat yourself well, while taking care of your hands and nails.
It is also an artistic expression. Colorful adornments ~ make up, jewelry, etc are a part of many cultures. It's a way of expressing your individual style.
I respect it isn't important to you, and at the same time, it has value to many, and is a thriving industry that I'm sure sustains many.
Peace
MAN -- they feel pretty and confident because they have been conditioned to think they need the makeup.
I know many women, professionals included, that don't wear makeup and polished nails. They are confident women and feel attractive in their own skin.
I also know many that feel they must paint themselves or they are not attractive. They have been brainwashed by the industry and society. I even know some (my sister-in-law included) who will not go out of the house without it. My sister-in-law once said to me she would not go out to get her mail from the mail-box or a paper from her lawn without her powder, eye-liner and lipstick on. There is something wrong with that.
Peace to you also.
Happiest Girl - If it's not for you then don't get your nails done or wear makeup. It's a personal choice so stop being judgmental.
Thank you happiest girl. HLamuseseme, I didn't make my comments to say that anyone was being judgmental. I think it's a valid point that society, and the enormous beauty product industry wants women to fee inferior without makeup and other products. Heck, what would happen if all women felt beautiful just the way they are!
I do appreciate the feeling of not wanting to go out without doing certain things to make myself look better. Perhaps it's insecurity, maybe pride, but either way, you make a valid point. Our society judges by appearance. The ugly truth is that thin and "beautiful" helps to get noticed and maybe even better opportunities. It's all wrong.
