Day trip with older parents
Any suggestions for an outdoor adventure to do with older parents. Looking for something like a garden
I found the Grounds for Scuplture website at https://www.groundsforsculpture.org/
It says it's located on the old Trenton Speedway in Hamilton Township NJ, not Montclair.
Montclair and gardens maybe thinking of the Presby Iris Garden, Upper Montclair. I have never been there but have heard several locals say its spectacular. I believe it's only open until June 1 so would have to be within a week. https://www.presbyirisgardens.org/
Closer to home, how about Duke Farms in Hillsborough https://www.dukefarms.org/
Or further away, Longwood Gardens west of Philadelphia is very popular with seniors.

a nice Botanical Garden.
The Frelinghuysen Arboretum

Sorry for the misinformation. My friend was telling about it and now I am not sure which place she was talking about. It sounded more like Grounds for Sculpture, but she also said it was around Montclair lol! Maybe it worked out for the best since now there are 2 possible day trips!
Willowwood in Chester: https://willowwoodarboretum.org/
Leonard J Buck Gardens Far Hills
https://www.somersetcountyparks.org/leonard-j-buck-garden
Both are very nice and pretty close. Leonard J Buck is beautiful.
The Hunterdon County Arboretum is a local gem... and it's FREE.

I also second Grounds for Sculpture and Longwood Gardens. Both are wonderful, but both cost more than a nominal fee... $25 adults/$18 seniors at GFS and $25/$22 at LG.
Another vote for Grounds for Sculpture and have lunch at The Rat, a lovely restaurant with outdoor seating. On a nice day it’s like a Monet painting.
Re Presby Iris Gardens - it's always open - but apparently the big bloom season ends in early June
Longwood Gardens is lovely but more than a day trip in my opinion -
