Press Release (5/17/23): Motor Vehicle Crash with Entrapment
On Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at approximately 3:53 p.m., the Hackettstown Police Department, Hackettstown Fire Department, and the Hackettstown First Aid & Rescue Squad responded to the intersection of Mountain Ave and East Ave for a report of a motor vehicle crash with entrapment.
When officers arrived on scene, the driver and passenger of a 2015 Yukon were trapped inside the vehicle. First responders arrived on scene and both occupants were extracted in approximately 40 minutes.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the Yukon, driven by a 58-year-old female from Washington Township, NJ (Morris County), was travelling northbound on Mountain Ave in the right turn lane for East Avenue, when she then made a left hand turn and was struck by a 2019 Ford, driven by a 41-year-old male from Hackettstown, NJ, travelling southbound on Mountain Ave.
The cause of the crash then forced the Yukon into a traffic signal.
The driver of the Yukon and her passenger, a 14-year-old girl from Washington Township, NJ (Morris County), suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Hackettstown Medical Center.
The driver of the Ford and his passenger, a 26-year-old male from Oxford, NJ, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and refused medical treatment.
The crash remains under investigation.

The Hackettstown Police released a press release on their Facebook page with some information. It may also be on the Hackettstown Police website as well. It appears a woman in the black suv traveling north made a left turn from the right turning lane for East Ave. causing the collision.

Guy in work truck Def tried to stop but for how long he skidded wouldn't be surprised if he was speeding too. People fly by doing 60 all the time here and 100 at night. Big trucks at night go by doing 70

Dh—60, 70 and 100!!? Come on. are you radaring cars to get those speeds or are you over exaggerating a lot here!

I said it a billions times, don't exaggerate! LOL

While 40MPH in that area is too fast and some folks do exceed it at times, most actually obey the speed as a rule. 60 as the norm?- no. 100? I doubt that was ever obtained there.

I’m 100 percent sure that individual above is not exaggerating
I’ve witnessed it as well, 60 mph and up easy on mountain ave and surroundings areas, and where are the police? hackettstown mansfield independence ? usually tucked away in some residential area where maybe couple cars pass here and there, love spending tax dollars on uselessness. Other than that it’s a free for all, everybody rushes to get absolutely no where.
