Barricaded parking lot on Washington Street

Hello Townies! Does anyone know why the parking lot on the corner of Valentine
and Washington Streets (right before the post office) has concrete barricades?

Thanks!

It's been that way for quite some time. It is private property and I gather to keep patron's of Czig Meister and others from using it. It is owned by the former bank or I should say that property owner where the bank was on the opposite corner near Grand Ave. M&T bank I think it was called.

It now longer belongs to the bank. The property was sold in December.

Ah. That makes sense. A company was looking to move their food testing laboratory there. They were to continue to lease the upper floor to the current tenant, a medical billing office I believe it is.

I did notice an available or for sale sign there last week I think.

For years it was parking for mail carriers personal vehicles. If it's a private lot, why not put in meters. Money to be made with the brewery next door.

Correct. Whatever deal in place allowing the postal employees to use the lot, ended when the ownership changed.
