Eyedox Closed?

Does anyone know what's going on at Eyedox? My father-in-law ordered glasses last week and now it looks like they are closed.

So are they still closed?

I read something a few months ago that Dr. Stewart was going to retire and some health issues moved that up sooner than planned. The Doctor taking over only had limited availability. Maybe she just wasn't available over the holiday week?

They didn't seem to open on Saturday!

Dr Stewart retired a new Dr (Forget her name at the moment) purchased the business. They have upgraded much of the equipment and did a great job for me in September on a rush sunglasses purchase.

might just have been closed for the holiday weekend. I believe the phone number is unchanged.

Noooooooo ughhhhh

No one answers the phone. And the voice mail is full. My son ordered new glasses two weeks before the holidays. Stopped by today at 3pm and they are closed. Wish we could get some answers.

I called the phone # recently and reached an elderly lady who said she keeps getting their phone calls! I checked their website and it's the number listed. I sent an online request via the website, have never received a response. Very strange!!

I walked by there today. Called the number that someone put on the window and was told that location closed and she doesn't know when it will reopen.

I think they should have put out a mailer to all their clients to say they were closing. I for one would like to have my records. I have been a patient of Dr. Stewart for 30 years! This is insane!

Just called the number on the door. It is answered by retina specialists of NJ. They are seeing patients in a different Hackettstown location. They do not have any of Dr. Stewart's records "because he retired" and do not take any insurances. Very, very frustrating!!

The Hackettstown location is on Willow Grove street off of Seber Rd. There is now an address on the door. HHS fan, no insurance? That isn't good!

Did anyone find any information if you did order glasses/contacts and paid for them how you get them?? They can't just drop people that paid for things!

Very weird because a few weeks back I got a phone call from eye docs saying that I haven't gone in awhile and they wanted me to come in. Did this happen to anyone else ? Good thing I didn't go because I would have been out some money!!!

I go to the retina specialist of New Jersey. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield. They take it every time I've been going there for a year

Hello everyone this is Dr. Stewarts daughter. He sold the practice on April 1st 2016. He was very sad to hear it closed. He misses everyone and thanks you for staying with us since 1977. He is has retired to florida where he always dreamed of being. I took a new practice manager position close to home her in PA. We did leave all the patient records behind for the new owner. So sad.

My daughter saw a young male Dr there between May and June. Does anyone know who it was? He was very thorough and patient. Wish I knew the practice was closing. I would have asked for my families records.....

Any other information regarding the new owners name and/or contact information so we can get our records?

Did a little investigative work and found that if you call the eyedox number 908-852-3575, the Retinal Specialists of NJ, out of Morristown, NJ picks up. Although they are not an eye doctor office, they are fielding calls for those of you who may have paid for glasses etc and did not receive them. They evidently agreed to assist where they can with this. I was also told they have some of Dr. James Stewarts records in storage but couldn't guarantee that they had them all. Also, I was also informed a new eye doctor would not go by these records and would have to perform a new exam. Hope this information helps and good luck.

great this means i need to pay for another contact exam, less than 6 months sincee last.

I find it strange that an apparently solid business such as eyedox that's been around forever can go out of business in less than a year after being taken over by new owners.

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control we were forced to close the Eyedox location next to Shoprite in Mansfield Plaza last fall.

We are now happy to say that Eyedox is now reopened under the umbrella of Retina & Eye Specialists of New Jersey at 500 Willow Grove Street in Hackettstown, which includes Dr Harold Lappin and Dr Sean Lalin. Our practice provides comprehensive eye care for the entire family from routine checkups to complicated eye care for macula degeneration, diabetic eye disease, and glaucoma. We also perform cataract surgery, retina surgery and Lasik surgery in addition to fitting glasses and contact lenses. We also participate in most insurance plans and medicare, including vision plans like VSP.

We are committed to continuing the excellent legacy of eye care provided by Dr Stewart and EyeDox in the Hackettstown area, and we also now have your records from EyeDox at our Hackettstown location. We look forward to serving you and your family for all your eye care needs. If you have any additional questions or would like to book an appointment, please call us at (908)871-2020 or visit our website at RetinaspecialistsNJ.com to book your appointment online.

Thank you for your understanding, and we look forward to serving you and your family with the best possible eye care so you can see your best.
