We Millennials only listen to the music that our parents approve of. We can't do anything ourselves.
My dad said this one is ok to share:
Vanessa Carlton: A Thousand Miles
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cwkej79U3ek&feature=kp
since you mentioned it in another thread I figured I would check it out.
The millennials offer two kinds of music in my mind anyway.
REBELUTION......................and everything else

Talking Blues is a style that is said to have been created by Chris Bouchillon around 1926 and has been used by numerous musicians over the years , the decades , the centuries and now even the millennia.
Here is one of my favorite practitioners of the talking blues style , from Canada ,
Corb Lund. Two very enjoyable humorous songs

My guess is New Found Glory being a punk band and the rest metal bands from the 80s-90s. I have vinyl from most listed bands.
I have been listening to A LOT of this German band SEEED
A cool mix of Reggae , some Hip Hop , rock , a horn section some Soul

No Doubt -- It's My Life
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubvV498pyIM
I don't really see most of this as Millennial's music unless I'm missing something. Maybe Mumford and Sons.
I would think stuff like Pitbull and Drake and probably other similar stuff that I'm not too familiar with.
I assumed Millennial's music meant anything released 2000 or after. Of course The Cleftones don't apply but most everything else does. Musical style doesn't matter if you ask me. It's the release date that makes the song Millennial's music.
One Day --by-- Matisyahu
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ilndHkQtoFU
bonus Matisyahu song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0pT_3eWyXM
First heard this in 2002, so I'll consider it a millennial era tune.
I like the 'enjoy this day' no matter what sort of crap you may be going through, type of message, plus, I just like Enya's sound... individual taste and all that ... song title is Wild Child.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ld6FlvslItI
Yeah, but you have to look at it this way....anyone born in 2000 or later probably didn't start listening to "current" (read: not parents) music until about 2010 or so. That said, I really don't want to call something like "The National" Millennial music because I enjoy it too much and the band members are all in their 40's. :)
Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the Peanuts comic strip were created in 1950.
Meghan Trainor definitely qualifies as a millennial of this current hip hop decade.
They join forces in this video --- and I love it.
Snoopy may be the only character to appear in 1960s and Millennial videos (well, in the 60s that sort of stuff was made for TV shows) --- hey Rich Appel, you out there? (He could confirm whether he was).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkCyfBibIbI
What does it matter what year a person is born. Unless I am missing something here which is possible since I avoid pop culture and pop phrases. I thought as stated above the thread is for music released after 2000.
OK, if it just means music on or after 2000, why not a little Smashing Pumpkins? I love Jimmy Chamberlin's drumming on this one.
This Time (Machina, 2000)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoDyvJVr2l8
The Charlie Brown cartoon strip was CREATED in 1950, on pen and paper --- that means it's been around (in newspapers, something people used to turn to, for information) since before this old timer learned how to read.
In the 60s and 70s, the characters were featured in some TV specials and Snoopy's Christmas was a popular song that got lots of radio play starting in 1967 -- it still gets played today.
This year a movie was done featuring Charlie Brown and his neighborhood friends. The cartoon has stood the test of time through several generations.
I posted that last song because it combined the old and new.
Anyhow, someone born in 2000 is still in high school.
Someone born in 1990 is a young adult who would definitely remember songs from 2000 to 2005, the same way I vividly remember and cherish songs from 1960 to 1965.
Wow. Got some laughs. I had a life back in 2009, missed all that. Would have thrown a Tiny Tim post into the mix. Tiptoe through the tulips, an all-time 60s classic.
Well, on a millennials' thread I'll throw in a song by Adele, released in 2011, so it qualifies as a millennial song .... and if I didn't like it I wouldn't post it. Merry Christmas.

Low -- What Part of Me Don't You Know?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exxRz-iVBlc
Two songs from 2015 that I enjoyed.
The first is a wry commentary on modern life. The second a typical CBGB song * wink

This is one of the most romantic songs ever. I've shared memories in some posts about certain songs that were playing when the Orioles were great ... well, when this was a hit, the Orioles were awful.
My O's fan buddies and I got a kick out of the part where he sings "O's what you do to me, O's what you do to me..."
Hey There Delilah -- Plain White T's
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXqjldCXtcE
One of the MOST romantic songs E V E R ???
to each their own but I always considered Delilah to be a cute little ditty at best.
Perhaps you should go listen to Chris Isaak's Wicked Game
or perhaps my favorite romantic song Angel Eyes by Jeff Healey
If I hear UB40 doing Can't Help Falling In Love I don't care where I am or what we are doing I grab my babe and hold her close and dance.
And if you want a truly beautiful romantic moment then find a lonely starlit dance floor perhaps some sky lanterns in the background and take your sweetheart out on the dance floor with (Everything I Do) I Do It For You playing for the two of you only.
Yes now that is romantic.
Lesson Over , CBGB has left the building
But this is a thread for songs of the 2000s. Ya want a beautiful Romantic song??
Nine Million Bicycles --by-- Katie Melua
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4bI77w0Wu2M
We could do a whole thread of romantic songs --- I'd include For My Lady by the Moody Blues.
No need to be argumentative on a thread about music where everyone is welcome to contribute. Wish more people did so,
Live and let live. Peace.

No Doubt -- It's My Life
Originally done by Talk Talk in the 80's. Does it still count:)
This speaks a lot about a person's nature. When I post something after another has made a statement I consider it a conversation. This is my nature. If another person views it as an argument then this speaks of that person's nature.
When a person makes a statement on a public forum it only follows that there may be a conversation about that statement.
One might call it an argument , one might call it a conversation , your choice.
It's My Life by No Doubt got posted two weeks ago.
The Talk Talk video, with all the wild animals, is really cool.
Radio stations get caught up with what decade was a particular song from, when they try to target their demographics ... blah blah blah.... if you like a particular song, you like the song, simple enough.
We just "discussed" romantic songs, someone thought a song I liked was cute, but not romantic, whatever. The most benign things you put on HL still turn into arguments, I get that ... it's a Hackettstown thing. Everybody has to have the last word, and has to be right.
We could start threads by categories like love songs, silly songs, instrumentals, songs with "meaning" (boy, that would sure be a lively thread) ....regardless of the decade.
One thing I've always liked about Rich Appel's shows was --- he'd go 50s to today in the same show, and always found ways to tie them all together. His shows are airing in several states now, but not in Hackettstown --- go figure.
Mike Golic and Mike Greenberg have been discussing/arguing (take your pick) whether Titanic was a good movie or not ... well, it made me think, laugh, and cry ... all within three hours ... WOW ... that's a great movie, that's a heck of a movie.

If This Is It - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUrCU4egL88
I could be your greatest confidant
And I could be the head laying on your breast

Same title as the 1963 Four Seasons Song (I was 12 then) Big Girls Don't Cry.

Tuesday Weld ... had a crush on her when I was 12, in 1962.
Speaking of 1962, the movie Hairspray (released in 2007) was about my favorite city (warts and all) in 1962 ... the city that Frank Robinson found himself thrown into in 1966, a wonderful city I loved visiting on family vacations, but one that really has been dragging its feet concerning integration.

I'm so saddened by the news of Chester Bennington's death today. He was the lead singer of the band Linkin Park. My boys and I have been fans for many years. Even tried to see them twice in concert and BOTH times the shows were canceled! Can't really explain why, but this news is hitting me hard. Knowing it was suicide makes it even more heartbreaking. I can't get through my favorite songs by them without crying. Such a loss, and Linkin Park will never be the same without Chester.
Here are my two favorites by them, both with lyrics eerily fitting. :'(
Shadow Of the Day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Erk_pxw7eZQ
