Spring/Summer Pet Photos 2014
I guess it's officially time to start a new thread. After this long, cold winter.....let's see some outdoor shots. I have nothing new to contribute at this point. Will try and take some pics this weekend.
We don't go out. Snoozing next to the door is about as close as we get. But it is spring so it's darn sunny & cozy in our spot. Will this do??
Pepper enjoying the sun. I think the look on her face is to say "woman, you're blocking my sun. Take the picture already and move."
Teaching puppy "sit and stay" -- all we do is tell the older dogs what to do and she watches them and copies.
The four Shepherd siblings noticed something just a bit different about their youngest brother "Fluffy". ;-)
It is kind of amazing that a 6-lb. toy poodle can rule the roost on a property with 3 German Shepherds and several cats, all of whom weigh more than he does.
On another note, I let a 6-year-old name my chickens. One is Spongebob, another is Batman...
I hadta have a bath. In the kitchen sink. And all the cats got on the counter and they were watching and laughing. And then I had ta get groomed and get my paws shaved and a sparkley bow and this is the worst day ever.
Bwahahahaha!!!
Baths are Poodle Association approved!! Watching and giggling is also approved.
Now where did those hair clippers go! That boy needs a serious scalping!!
Hahahahahaha!!!!!
Where's it's face? That's okay, better that we don't see it! Bwahahaha, omg, I'm cryin' here!

We went for a ride, and WHY did we go for a ride?.... TO BUY BACON!!! Oh dat is the BEST reason to go for a ride. i'M havin bacon and kibble for dinner even though my birthday is only next week mom said its ok I can still have bacon and kibble dinner right now!!!
Love it, Fuji. That's why it's so much fun to photograph dogs! You never know what they're going to do. Fun pic.
Uh oh, Buster looks like someone got up from the wrong side of a long nap. I'm staying outta his way....
Buster is beautiful, 5catmom.....My Miss Kitty always looks like she is grumpy too...it is just the breed of cat and their markings that make them appear that way. My cat is Birman/Ragdoll....
So is Miss Kitty, 5catmom...she is so gentle and I cannot help but brag about her as she never does anything "wrong"...Only goes on furniture that we have established she can...never on tables or kitchen counters..., sharpens her nails only on her scratch pad...Sweet natured...I really lucked out when we got her!!
Oh my, my. Can't go on the counter top, can't scratch where you want. I eat on the counter top. I jump up on the top of the kitchen cabinets. I scratch the crap outta the sofa any time I want.... ;-)
I gotta grumpy face, try this one out. It's my look for any time I hear the word "Poodle".
Beautiful picture of the family of Shephards, Rebecka! ..Iggles....we will try to work something out for a family picture for you as well. You are about the same size as my Miss Kitty and same coloring...I am sure there are other poodles out there too that we can find that look like you for a pretend family poodle picture......Have Mommy "fudge" one!.
joyful - Iggy says he would like a picture with Miss Kitty!
Nosila - I agree. The puppy does not have Leila's delicate feminine looks and dark features. Athena might get a bit more ladylike as she grows, she's still young... but as far as I'm concerned, it's going to be hard to be as stunning as mom. That said, some people go gaga for the sable coat, and Athena is a good-looking girl in her own right. But it's like having your picture taken with a super-model... you don't want to be the normal-pretty one standing next to her!
Iggle~ start your own family and you can also have a family portrait!
Great generation pic of your siblings!
Athena just turned 6 months old, so I'm trying to take a 6-month portrait of her. This is the type of face she was giving me. The whole time...
Athena, just looks like she is enjoying the sun.....sun bathing. She is so beautiful - I still love her mama though.
Wendy
Rebecka: That is hilarious! My one lab will do that to me sometimes. These are still very sweet pictures!
Char & Slate spend all their time together, are 6 months apart from same momma, 2 rescues I kept from the 14 rescued last year and placed in great homes!
awww Darleen - so sweet - I saw a fawn about this size today in my yard (w/ the mama).
Meet Bear, The happiest doggie in the world.
Adopted from a shelter. He is so grateful and smiles all the time.
John - I think that's the cutest pic ever posted on HL! :-) How could you not love that face? He must have lasted about 10 seconds in a shelter.
Darleen - that must have been something to see a just-born fawn. Is the mom using your place as a safe nursery, or did she move him?
Neezy,
Maybe it was the same fawn. Her mama came to get her at 6:30 p.m. Are you in Panther Valley?
The mother returned on the evening of the birth and I haven't seen either of them since then.
@Skippy...so happy--I saw this dog on craigslist & encouraged the owner to post here!!! Best of luck...she seems like a real doll.
This is Pryor down at north myrtle beach last month, great vacation! We had to wake up early to go play on the beach, so he's a little sleepy
ok ok - not a pet - one of the lovelies I help care for at Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary in Newton.
Thanks 5cat it has been crazy! . But first follow-up appointment Dr. was pleased. She decided she wanted to go back to school but mad that it has to be in the wheelchair per Dr's orders. Poor Brody not used to not getting all of his mom's attention. LOL!
Thanks, Nosila. He is quite the puppy!!! Here's one with both Augie and our Shih Tzu, Rikki. They are a fun pair!!!!
Oh my, Augie and Rikki look like they're in love!
I was thinking about something... what if we had an HL doggy get-together one afternoon? At a park or something.
I was also thinking that I would bring my camera and could take portraits of dogs who came if the owners wanted, and they could make a small donation to charity if they could... 100% given away (I'm thinking Pet Adoption League, as they do SO much for our local animals). Does this sound like a good idea or would there not be many takers? Just throwing it out there for feedback. :-)
GC - imagine getting all the HL cats together for a "play date" one day. That would be a heck of a scene!
You should see my hostas by the end of the summer. She loves rolling around in them. This is one of my 6 pets!
What? Like you have to wait for a rainy day for a nap?
Looks like either that dog swallowed a stuffed parrot, or the Phyliss Diller Museum is missing something from their archives.
do you always sleep with one eye open Sugar? would make stealing your kitty toys harder...
Jun '14
Love everyone's pics.
Poppy girl - my Petra is joining your kitty for a nap. Every day is good for sleeping when you're a cat. Must be nice.
There just is no bad time for 40 winks. And certainly always sleep with one eye open, even if you can't keep your head up...
I'm Ninja Cat!!
She doesn't mind her vest one bit. She doesn't like the water but sometimes we make her swim to cool down.

I know I'm going straight to hell for letting my pup go in the river without a leash and meeting another fur friend without a leash....but they sure did have fun
Love it, Nosila! A lab actually taught our GSD Leila how to swim! She was just a puppy and followed her friend Benson into the lake and Benson taught her to love the water. Not letting a lab swim would be a travesty! Salem looks like she's having a ball.
Look at this little bundle of fluff I photographed yesterday... he's a beautiful Pomeranian (although he looks like a fox, right?) who was found wandering alone, matted and hungry in Blairstown. Blairstown Animal Hospital kept him for a few weeks, and no one claimed him! He's now at Pet Adoption League looking for his new forever home. I seriously wanted to take him home he is so cute and loving.
Is that doggie trying to catch flies, cause I like flies, they're crunchy, and not easy to get, but they're tasty and I like 'em too, but not those nasty red ones, the big long see through ones, and if you look real close they got big eyes but you gotta be quick or they try to run and sometimes you gotta bite 'em a couple of times before you can swallow 'em whole and then they're the ones that fight back that aren't worth it and don't even taste so good so you leave 'em on the floor and let daddy deal with it and Sugar says better for him but I don't know I think they just should fly away and not temp us and I wonder which ones the doggies like cause maybe they gotz something different we don't and that could be tasty but we gotz ones that taste like watermelon.
OK, so I made that last bit up. I kinda ramble.
a pesky fly woke me up buzzzing by my window! darn evil screen..... see if you can catch him white shoes! that one was so chunky i bet he tastes like chicken

Love all these pics! Everyone's pets are so cute.
@Lifegoeson - so happy to see German Shepherds whose hips are not steeply sloped (which causes hip problems)... they stand PROUD!
Another pic of the puppy - like how this portrait turned out. It's so hard to see them go.
Let's keep this thread going? I think everyone loves to see pics of each other's animals. And I think it's one of the few long HL threads where there is no heated debate!
5catmom-he looks hugh! SCAREY!!As a child we had them in the house once in awhile. Havent had any here and hope we never do.
If I didn't dislike them so much, I would say that one is almost cute.
Great fur color. It looks healthy if that is of any comfort.
he is about 2ish inches long - and he was rather displeased when I grabbed him and placed him in a cardboard box --- fortunately I was wearing my Ironclad gloves (usually used when handling bigger raccoons at Antler Ridge) - because the twit did try to bite - while making very cute fierce sounds - I'll spring him at dusk as per Kelly, director of Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary - Nah - no birdcage - and, Rebecca, Harry might do better than Hairy...lol
Could someone post some cute puppy or cat pictures? I am in need of a cuteness fix!
5catmom, how did the "release" go?!
Great,SpringFever.....little Fluffy took off....once I picked up the right paper towel and held it upside down...off it went...wings were bigger than I expected...my parting words were "don't tell the family where you were"
Thanks GC. I have a EXIF viewer in Chrome but it didn't show the lens data. Didn't think to download the file on my desktop and check. Doh!
Sep '14
"EXIF Viewer" by Alan Raskin plugs into Google Chrome, Firefox, etc. so you don't have to download the file. That's what I'm using. It does a great job of reading all the tags.
Yup, just using the simple zoom that I bought with the 7D. I have better primes for IQ, but when you're trying to photograph pups who are running around like little weasels, the zoom is the thing!
How in the world did you get them all to pose/stay like that???? I've only got ONE dog, and taking a picture of him is a nightmare because he keeps moving! LOL
You get them obsessed with a tennis ball...then tell them to sit and hold it over your head :)
So for a dog, a tennis ball is functionally equivalent to tuna?? I will have to remember that...
very impressive, Nosila - and amazing - might be fun to video the efforts to get them posed
Well, in Indy's case it might be better to hold a rabbit over your head. (It's a JOKE!)
Pup's first Wrangler Ride. It was sheer terror for the first 15 seconds, and then she decided it was fabulous fun. This is little Martine. We are not sure we are giving her up.
The pups turned 9 weeks old today. We also have one of the boy puppies still here - his new family is on vacation and will pick him up on the 16th. So still puppy joy around our place!
This is my baby boy Dukie, who is turning 5 Tomorrow ! Hope I posted this right ! Dukie is the black and white maltipoo...he's relaxing with his buddy Ticker in this shot....
So cute! Is Dukie a Havanese? Are you having a birthday party with a birthday steak?
Dukie is a Maltipoo....and the love of our lives....and no steak for him....he has pancreatitis, so we have to be very careful . In the past we have purchased doggie birthday cake from Jim on main street....we usually celebrate with his brother Brick (my daughter has him) so we will be seeing them tomorrow....
How did I miss his breed in your original post? lol Happy birthday Dukie!! And Brick, too, if he's his littermate!
I got that fuzzball kitty's toy... let's see him get it back now neener neener neener

We adopted another new cat about 3 weeks ago, we are now at full capacity! Here is Cody, Mom's new guy to help fill the void that was left when Max passed. He's almost a Max look alike, but of course he's not the same. He is a big lovable baby though, so he does help fill the void.
Hi Cody, so I see you got four white shoes, I gotz me four white shoes two, that's why they call me White Shoes even though I used to have another girlie name but it's actually White Shoes Johnson because he's the guy who always wore the white shoes when the other football players weren't and he used to do the chicken dance when he scored a touchdown, but usually go by just White Shoes and nothing more but maybe you already knew that and EVERYTHING.
Deep breath in. I know, I kinda ramble sometimes...
Cody is quite handsome - so glad you adopted an adult - now he'll have a happy life
not my pets but pretty funny - my Pipsqueak acts like this when Buster is getting petted: http://youtu.be/sOmKpQeqw6U
Gorgeous image, AXD. Is your dog a red and white English Setter? (Sorry, I always want to know the breed!)
Going to check out the vid, 5cm.
White Shoes - I'm thinking one of the cats put superglue on their foreheads.
Sugar - Yeah, then the dogs were dumb enough to go for it when the cat yelled "Headbutt!!".
Schweinshaxen? But I *LOVE* Schweinshaxen. And I wasn't invited? I gave up my Grey Poupon, but I have Duselldorfersenf for it. Do the dogs like mustard that will take your head off with the horseradish??
I don't know why but I have a sneaking suspicion there may be a small issue with the cushion in the doghouse.
You are a brilliant human. You have miraculous powers of interpreting animal communications. How would anyone ever know what shards of foam scattered over a tiny set of living quarters mean?
If you'll excuse me now, I'll just be off reciting the consolidated works of Nietzsche to my fellow members of the book circle...
Rebecka:
This last picture is great! I love the attitude from pup on the right! LOL
@Rebecka... I am laughing so hard......that last picture of the pups watching you eat cheese is the very best!!!!
you must have some very delicious cheeses ! this overgrown mouse also loves cheese

I just heard about these pet tags that look like a driver's license. They are adorable and part of the proceeds help shelter pets.

Really cool day. Me & my sister were really good all day. So we got turkey cheese surprise. We didn't expect it. So it was a surprise! I'm gettin the hang of this now. I still don't understand chicken dumplings though. Maybe I better not ask. Anyway, we need a snooze. Fist pump sis!!
I love seeing all of the pet family pictures~!!
So fun....
In the picture is Pebbles on my horse..lol
