another vote for dr. theune! she is so sweet and nice, i have been going to her for years now. i got my father who hates to see dr's to start going to her. she likes her so much, that is saying a lot (if you knew my dad and dr's you would understand) :)

thank you copygirl! it has been killing me for years trying to figure out why she looks so familiar... you are so right, bette midler!

I love Dr. Theune also! She's great, makes you feel comfortable and takes time to listen to you. I've never felt rushed with her. And yeah, she does kinda look like a younger version of Bette Midler. :)

Just an FYI for anyone recommending Dr. Ingrassia- Squires....I work as a nurse at Hackettstown...and let me give you an example of what she does to her patients there. There have been sooooo many complaints of her coming to the floors and ignoring them when they are admitted as patients. A person will be admitted and she won't even acknowledge them as she passes them in the hallways. But here's personal experience. I needed to make an appoint. for myself. I call, and I'm told she's off for the week. She's got no one covering her and I'm told to go to the Atlantic Urgent Care for my needs. Well $145 dollars later, yes they fixed my problem, a problem that could have been solved in her office at a $15 co-pay and that office could care less. This was an event during the middle of the week...and she's off. Great. Normal course of things would be to have another MD on call for you. No, she uses the Urgent care, and you will be stuck with the bill. So, I'm moving on, finding another MD who cares about her pts.

Really RN? She's not allowed to take time off? I dont know her, have never been to her, but I think you getting mad over her taking time off, is ridiculous. Dont you get time off from your job? Why did you have to pay $145 at urgent care? They take insurance, so you should have only paid whatever your co-pay is. What am I missing here?

Maybe someone should forward the above complaint to the doctor herself. She might like to know what people are saying about her, and maybe between the situation described and your screen name she cane deduce who you are and the two of you can hash it out, LOL

I would go to Dr, Kerri Ingrassia at her officer before ANYONE at HACKETTSTOWN HOSPITAL! I had a baby there in 09, Major Surgery in 2010, and another baby in 2012. I WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE!! EVER! THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE BY ANY RN!!!!!!! The nurses in the maternity ward were horrid..god forbid if they actually did their job!

I most recently had a mamogram and went to Morristown Memorial! Twice the distance and BY FAR BETTER CARE and btw...I live 5 minutes away from Hackettown Hospital.

OK, which one has the warmest hands......
(some men like female primary care DRs too)

LV, can expand a bit on why the maternity nurses at HRMC are "horrid"? I'm having a baby there in January but my previous children were all born MMH.

Sure...

This Hospital has received so many management changes since first having my first son back in 2009.

2009 polices and procedures were very different that 2012. Mind you, before 2009 I have never been pregnant and did not know what to expect. The nurses were kind and caring. Genuine if you will..Anything you needed..and I mean anything...they would do for you or show you how to do. Before this time, I had never even changed a diaper or swaddled a baby.

That's why I was surprised when I had my 2nd son in 2012
1) limited # of maxi pads or anything you need for the general area...when you needed more you would have to call them or press the red button...yeah, that's right....they thought I would STEAL gross disposable underwear and ice packs!
2) I went to the hospital 4 c dilated and they sent me back home bc I was not dilated enough and then went back not even 2 hours later and almost missed the window for my epidural bc of this...
3) When I was at the hospital before they sent me home they were completely ignoring me when they had monitors on me for observation and only came in to check on me when I took all the monitors off bc I had to go to the bathroom and alarms were going off.
4) Since I labored for most of the time at home I was up all hours the night and afternoon before I had gotten no sleep. After my son was born it was early morning and I asked them if they could watch him so I can get some sleep. At this time is was 38 hours consecutive without any sleep...You should have seen the looks I got when I asked...
5) Got a lecture from the so called Lactation Expert bc I chose to breast feed and bottle feed due to the fact I would be going to work. WHO THE F CARES!!! It is a personal decision and the nurse again WOULD give her opinions and told me I am wrong. When I asked her to watch my child so I could get some sleep she did and then came back and woke me and said he wants your breast milk and would not take the bottle. So after she left I tried to breast feed my son and he did not want it and turned his head away. I then took the bottle of formula that she said my son wouldn't take and then gave it to him. He took to it right away and then fell asleep. That BITCH! She just didn't want to help out or I was disturbing her!
6) Hackettstown has "their" own group of pediatricians. I was told by them that Dr. Chi (he was there 30 sec after my first son was born in 2009) would not be allowed there and they have their own group. Whatever! Pound SALT! These so called pediatricians missed alot that Dr. Chi picked up on and was resolved in a day under Dr. Chi's Care...
7) 2 sons were born at this hospital...first son circumcision was done hours after he was born. 2nd son in 2012..nope...had to be done off site at a different doctor 2 months after he was born.
8) I noticed not one nurse stopped to see if I was ok and asked if I needed anything...only came in when I pushed the button. They were only concerned with themselves and the football game on tv and felt as I was interrupting them to actually to their damn job!! I felt so sorry for the lady in the room next to me who had a c section who was pushing the button all the time...
9) I was told by my insurance company usually under normal deliveries (not c sections) a normal hospital stay is 48 hours after delivery. So I filled my paper work out to be discharged and it just sat there and sat there and sat there...finally had to get my OB and the head Pediatrician to say something to the maternity staff. Then I sat there and sat some more...finally my husband went to the desk 3 times and kept annoying them until the did their JOB!!!!!
10) 2009 - discharge papers and given me complete instructions and care
2012 - given half ass papers and we could have just walked out with nothing...uncaring..the papers they faxed Dr. Chi...useless...he can't read them bc most of the information is missing or illegible.

I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL AGAIN TO ANYONE!

If I were to have another baby I would pay for my OB to deliver at Morristown Memorial. A terrible experience!

@ LV.... going to keep my mouth shout and just wish you all a happy life!!<3

LV, thank you for your explaining all that I appreciate it. I'm not sure I'll have the same problems though. My OB already told me she'll be doing my son's circumcision so that shouldn't be a problem. Also, I'll be exclusively breast feeding so I guess I won't have to deal with biased nurses. I am concerned with not being able to use my own pediatricians in the hospital but I'm hopeful that all will be fine. As for being sent home when you were in labor, isn't that your OB's decision? Not the nursing staff?

Scoop, I assume you had a better experience?

I love Dr Ingrassia !! She has been my primary care Dr for 10 yrs now. She is always there when I need her, she has always had a Dr on call when away ( Dr Alex Mercado - also terrific!!) & she checked on me everyday for 3 days in the hospital during my gallbladder surgery. She is a lovely human being with a huge heart !!!

To say the least everyone's experience with any doctor, nurse, staff, facility is going to be different. Had one of my kids at HRMC and had a delightful (well as much as it can be) experience. Was recently in the hospital two weeks ago with a cardiac scare (I'm fine), but the care, efficiency and service were all wonderful especially since I'm a 'townie' I saw some friendly and familiar faces (the young lady delivery my dinner is my youngest's Cheer angel!)... I happen to know several of the nurses at the hospital so maybe that helps, not sure. Oh and I've had several mammograms and the girls one xray each with no problems and again, efficient, caring staff.

Back to the original question - Dr. Thuene is my primary care - friendly, caring, practical and knowledgeable!

Dr. Hoey at Lakeview Medical in Budd Lake is my primary. She is a very caring doctor and the practice is well run. I've been a patient there for years. They also run on time. I've never waited more than a few minutes to see the doctor.

LV - you sound like a difficult, demanding patient. I've had the best of care at HRMC. I have not had a baby there, but I've been an in-patient for 7 days and an out-patient several times and have been very well cared for by a kind and efficient staff. My children were all born in the 1970's and believe me, the whole childbirth experience today has improved tremendously. Count your blessings that your children are fine instead of complaining about the hospital and staff.

LV,I just have to say that if I was a nurse at HRMC,I would have ignored you. You seem like a very angry person...I can almost bet you have problems with everyone not just the nurses at the hospital......you get more and more angry as you type. Go see an anger management specialist......or stay away from HRMC for good....

bowie bowie
Oct '12

Actually, I am not a angry person at all. I will not go to any mediocre hospital and that's that! I just know I had terrible experiences with the hospital nurses NOT my Primary Care doctors who visited me, one of which was Dr. Ingrassia- Squires every day and night...so back to Hackttestown RN...she is the one who has the problem and anger issues not me...and you are probably one of the horrible nurses I had taking care of me.

I have the most wonderful life and am grateful for all of my blessings - Don't think I don't know this...but when people start bashing Dr. Ingrassia- Squires for no reason..you people have issues! Also, not only was it me who had issues there, but also my doctors who once were patients there too...

Lets face it. Once a different management took over the hospital, it went very much down hill and that is from the check in person at Morristown Memorial...

LV.. I am so with you!!! I have filed numerous complaints with anyone& everyone Against the hospital And the maternity ward... My experience was horrible and that was my 3rd child.. This also happened in 2009& if I didn't have the experience of having my other 2 in 2 different hospitals I may never have known the difference between what a bad hospital is vs a good hospital vs a great hospital...please reconsider having any baby or any procedure for that matter at that hospital & whatever u do don't ever bring your child to the er unless its a life or death situation& even then I'd be scared.. Also dr. Uzbay is the absolute worst ob-gyn

We wouldn't recommend Dr. Ingrassia- Squires to anyone. Not only she completely missed the diagnosis on Gall Bladder inflammation, she went on vacation (told us its training) without giving us a secondary doctor. She was irritated when we contacted her during vacation for her pain. Neither her or any Dr from her practice was available when surgery was needed... and she didn't even bother to follow up afterwards.

if this is a topic about a local female primary care doctor why did it become a Hackettstown hospital bashing?

I'm a very happy Dr. Ingrassia- Squires patient. She was by my side during a very traumatic time with the death of my mom last year, and has handled my own health care with compassion and sensitivity.

ziggy - It's the internet, topics shift. It doesn't make it right, but it happens.

Personally I see a lot of anger here no matter what anyone else says. My own personal experiences have been nothing but positive with HRMC. Certainly experiences differ, but I don't take that as having to go off the deep end, and anyone else can see for themselves and decide how much stock to place in it.

Things can't be all bad or this would never have happened:

LV - From the check in person at Morristown?

Just to clarify an above comment, Dr. Ingrassia does have admitting privileges to Morristown.

For the all the post about dr being on vacation an you were told it was training I'd like to tell you she had her medical boards the second week of October so I'm sure no one cane understand the stress of that I could not even imagine. So yea some vacation you guys need to grow up! As far as on call dr I went to urgent care paid my 20.00 copay didn't owe anything after! And as far as the one comment about no dr there to deal with your gallbladder pain she's the only freaking dr there next time go to the er If your in that much pain she get dx you over the phone an couldn't do anything for you in the office either besides send you to the er!!! And when she does take days off she entitled to that she has a family too! And she's the ONLY dr I know of who actually leaves her cell phone number so be happy you could get a hold of her directly instead of running the circles with the answering service An being part of a call service. I hope you two find that perfect dr your looking for you way to high matientence I sympathize to whatever practice has to take you in!

With respects to the folks jumping on the RN about the docs time off. I didn't feel that was her gripe - her gripe was that the doc didn't having anyone covering for her. Certainly the doc is entitled to time off, but honestly, she really should have a seamless process for patients in her absence. I could be wrong here, but i really think that was RN was upset about. Urgent Care (to me) is for urgent issues typically during off hours/weekends. I would also expect a covering physician.

Anyway, that matter aside, I may have to check out Lakeview in Budd Lake now. I've been interested in getting a physical and this place might just work for me.

I had my daughter @ Hackettstown Hospital in 2009 and it was a great experience. My nurse for the first 24 hours was Linda and she was absolutely amazing.

Dr. Antonella Auciello. Her office is located next to Hackettstown Regional Medical Center. I would highly recommend her. I have referred several people to her and they are very pleased.

Dr. Antonella Auciello's practice is relatively new to the Hackettstown area. I selected her last year as my primary care physician when my previous physician sold his practice. I couldn't be happier. Dr. Auciello is a wonderfully kind person, very thorough and very professional. Others in my family are now seeing her, and we are delighted. We recommend her very highly.

Dr Suma Ghanta, in Flanders on 206 with Avco care, I have been seeing for the past 3 years, her husband is a doctor also for radioalgy in Hackettstown, for HDI,
she is professional and will spend the time with you and doesnt' make you feel you are being rushed, she also returns you call prompty

I agree Suma Ghanta or I just started seeing Dr. Auciello next to Hackettstown Hospital. Her NP is very good too.

Just FYI there are many drs at the practice for Dr. Ghanta so its always very busy and she only has one late night so it was hard for me to get in and it was always a long wait thats why I stopped going. She is a good dr. tho. Dr. Auciello's office was usually a wait to between 30-45 mins but I noticed since she got her NP in the wait has not been that long.

I use Dr. Theune, and think she is great. She remembers me from one visit to the next, the staff at Plaza Family Care are nice and friendly, and I rarely have to wait. I used to use Dr. Ingrassia. Each time I saw her it was if it was the first time I was there. Her staff was often surly, and the last time I was there I waited for over an hour and finally left, and never saw her.
