Warren County planners attempting to resurrect plans for Route 57, 46 connection in Hackettstown

Warren County planners want to resurrect decades-old plans for a road connecting Route 57 to Route 46 at the county's eastern border.

The proposed connector ran into roadblocks when Washington Township, Morris County, withdrew its support in 2002 and with the advent of the state's land-preserving Highlands Act two years later.

The bypass would have to run through the township on land protected by the legislation.

But after reviewing a mobility study presented last month for Hackettstown, the Warren County Planning Board decided the bypass should be included in the state's transportation plans, Planning Director David Dech wrote in a December 30th letter to the state Department of Transportation.
