VIP Grant Award Winners

The Hackettstown BID is proud to announce its 2009 Grant Program. This particular Grant Program is called "VIP", which stands for Visual Improvement Program. The program is aimed at helping BID businesses fund improvements for signs, facades, and other exterior initiatives.

The funds are available on a matching basis with a maximum award of $1,000.

The BID has already awarded over $15,000 in grant money to our local businesses and property owners since June of last year and the latest winners who received their grant awards in January of this year are Keith Detombeur for improving his properties that are located at 188 Main Street known as Stella G's and Town Nail at 114 Main Street; Jerry Berkowitz for improving his properties located at 159 Main Street operating as The HackettstownTrading Post and at the Vacuum Store located at 193 Main Street; Tom Schiano for his property improvement at Mama's Restaurant & Cafe Baci located at 260 Mountain Avenue; Marcel Simonet for his property improvement at 207 Main Street and David Lowe for improvements made at 107 West Moore Street known as Across the Pond Antiques.

For 2009, the BID has set aside additional monies into the VIP Grant for smaller projects such as signage to help businesses abide by the zoning ordinances that are being strickly enforced starting this January. The BID also strongly encourages its businesses to support each other by using other local services. In the case of signage for example, locally we have Hollie Studios, Home Towne Hardware, Paintpourri, just to name a few, that could provide services or material.
