If you're a Centenary College student, an area resident, someone who works locally or a shopper seeking a particular purchase, be on the look out for an improved retail selection in Hackettstown.

The Hackettstown Revitalization Committee, which recently banded together members of the Hackettstown Business Improvement District (BID,) government officials and representatives of leading businesses and community organizations to collaboratively spearhead renewal of the town's business districts, has begun to move forward with recommendations made by a recent Community Insights Retail Study to revitalize business along Main Street and Mountain Avenue.

The 12-month study, completed earlier this year by the JGSC Group of Merchantville, gathered information from municipal officials, merchants, property owners, business organizations, Centenary College students, faculty and staff, local planning and zoning documents, residents, shoppers, visitors and other stakeholders. Its purpose was to determine the most important factors that will revitalize economic growth, and recommended a series of initiatives to enhance the allure of the downtown shopping districts for daily shoppers and transform Hackettstown into a true college community complementing the needs and interests of the college.
