Memorial Motor Madness Car Show

Everything from Ford Model A's to vintage motorcycles is expected to thrill the crowd Sun., May 25 from 9 am to 4 pm when the Hackettstown Rotary Club and Mars Snackfood present the 14th annual Memorial Motor Madness Car Show.

Raindate is May 26.

This popular show features vehicles in two dozen classes, with cash awards in each. Food and craft vendors will be on site, as will vendors exhibiting pin-striping and other car-related goods and services. For the first time, a special "Peoples Choice" prize will be awarded.

Event co-chairs Jason Coe, COO of Hackettstown Regional Medical Center (HRMC), and Rich Pelizzoni of The Reynolds Group, Raritan, say the show, which can feature 500 vehicles on a good-weather day, will benefit the new Joan Knechel Cancer Center at HRMC as well as other local charities supported by the Rotary Club. Theses include the NORWESCAP Food Bank, The Arc of Warren County, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Camp Merry Heart, DASACC, among others.

Local DJ favorite Doc South will serve as emcee and spin the oldies all day. During the afternoon, he will ask for a moment of silence for the country's veterans and members in service, and the crowd will quiet for the playing of the National Anthem. Exhibitors, vendors, and spectators are asked to donate a calling card for service members stationed overseas so that they may call home.

Food vendors will be on hand to serve breakfast and lunch items, including breakfast sandwiches, burgers and hot dogs, ice cream, and beverages. Door prizes are plentiful, and Rotary members will be selling chances for a cash 50/50 prize.

Sponsors include Mars Snackfood, Inc, Johnson Dodge Chrysler Jeep, Hackettstown Ford, Saturn of Mt. Olive, Kevil Chevrolet, Centenary College, and Warren County Community College. Spectators are invited to attend at $5 per person age 6 and older, and alcohol and pets are strictly prohibited.
