Hackettstown Holds Rental Inspection Repeal

Hackettstown town council unanimously tabled an ordinance Monday that would have stopped a controversial rental inspection program.

Council started the program in October 2006 to crack down on suspected residential overcrowding, or stacking.

Since its inception, local landlords have been lobbying to get rid of the program. They say it's been ineffective and feel they are unfairly charged a $120 per apartment fee to pay for the inspections.
