Hackettstown Fire Fighters Receive Grant

Just last year, Hackettstown firefighters were forced to rescue two of their own.

During a massive house fire in Mansfield Township in February 2007, two firefighters fell through the first floor and into the basement. Thankfully they were saved.

Fireman's Fund Insurance Company is awarding a $13,337 grant to the Hackettstown Fire Department for the purchase of a new power rescue system. It encompasses an extrication kit with various saws and blades to enable firefighters to cut through debris that may prevent crews from rescuing downed firefighters in an emergency.
