Earth Week in Hackettstown

April 1, 2008 at 2:52 pm

With Earth Week quickly approaching, the community of Hackettstown along with Centenary College, and the Hackettstown Business Improvement District (BID) will be doing various things to help promote "Eco Friendly" initiatives from April 20th-23rd.

The college will be holding events Sunday through Wednesday. The events will include bird watching, hybrid car displays from Hackettstown Ford, movie screenings of "An Inconvenient Truth" along with other earth conscience movies, arts and crafts, and lectures. For a full schedule of events, log onto Centenary's Earth Week website.

The Hackettstown BID will be doing its part, along with local businesses, by promoting a "GoGreen Tote," which is a reusable cloth like bag that can be purchased at many of our local stores. Participating businesses will offer a discount when the "GoGreen Tote" is re-used at their store.

Along with the "GoGreen Totes" the BID will be teaming up with volunteers from the high school, college, and community for a business district clean up walk that will stretch from Stiger Street all the way down to Mountain Avenue.
