Main St Fire Injures Apartment Tenant

One person was injured Thursday when a grease fire started in a cooker at the Hackettstown Chinese Restaurant sending smoke into the apartments above, town police report.

A tenant in one upstairs apartment suffered smoke inhalation and was transported to the Hackettstown Regional Medical Center for treatment, police said.

The 12:43 p.m. fire at the Main Street restaurant prompted police to close a potion of the street between High and Valentine streets for an hour. Hackettstown Fire Official Mike Alvarez ordered the restaurant closed at least until today.
