Do you have to buy tickets to Mega Millions and Powerball in person or is there an online option. It appears there might be some apps out there but they don’t seem to affiliated with the lottery.

You can buy online. You have to be physically in NJ during the online purchase, I think. Also, there is a fee. I don't know how much.

I use Jackpocket. They are approved by NJ Lotto. You load your account with funds for a small fee. Then buy tickets as normal. They even provide a scanned copy of your ticket.

I've won a couple dollars through them. The winnings post to your account instantly. Not sure how it works exactly if you win a large sum though.
