Park Advisory: Stephen's State Park

The day use area at Stephen's State Park is temporarily closed due to a emerald ash borer ash tree removal project.

We expect the area to be closed for the next few weeks. An update will be posted when the day use area reopens to park visitors.

Doggone those Emerald Borers. They're small, but a huge pain in all our ashes!

I noticed the gates were closed when I went by a number of times and was wondering why they were closed too, but didn't think to check. Thanks for providing both the question and the answer folks!

The damage to the ash trees in the Catskills is really bad. The DEC and DEP have had to take down tens of thousands of trees so far, and many more are dying.

Any idea when the park will reopen? I really miss running there and it’s now been months of it being closed.
