Old cells and chargers. Where to dispose them.

Where can I dispose of old cellphones and chargers? Tx for your help. I am gutting our house of old items that are no longer needed.

Best Buy will take almost anything to recycle.

Check their website.

Verizon used to give credit towards a new phone for them

If you're in Hackettstown, their electronics collection day. Otherwise if they run it this year, the County's collection day.

Trash can.

@Mikey. Really??

I would definitely call your cell provider and ask them to point you in the right direction. I wouldn’t wait until hazardous waste day. At least with your provider you know the phone may be refurbished.

There used to be an organization called cell phones for soldiers.

You would be surprised how much you 'recycle' just ends up buried in the dirt somewhere anyway.

Might be another country but still going to catch up to 'us' sooner or later regardless.

So harsh reality- if you truly care- you would never buy anything plastic, toxic, chemical, etc.... but that means you would live in a hut, farm your own vegetables, grow livestock, never live in any part of 'modern' society for the last 70+ years.

Heck- your garbage can? Recycle can? Probably plastic. The computer or phone you are reading this on? Plastic and harmful metal and chemicals.

Call Staples in Mansfield. They use to. Not sure as I haven't been in there in a while.

Both the Veterans and County Women's shelters use them and the shelter reprograms them for use as emergency lines for abused women so they can't be traced from their "family" phone. I think I'd found the link and posted it here on another thread about old phones.

I've read recently that China has a lock on the supply for at least 7 of these materials. And our trade relationship is not healthy. Best to recycle to have at least some of these metals available in our country.

We took a bunch of really old phones, etc to Abilities on 31 for recycling. These were really old ones that are no longer supported.
