Insect larvae in Strawberries

Some strawberries have been infected by the fly 'spotted wing drosophila'. They lay their eggs in strawberries. The insect larvae can be removed by soaking the strawberries in warm salted water for 1/2 hr. This will draw the maggots out, you will see them in the water.
If ingested, they will not harm you. Sorry for such unappetizing news.
Glad I'm not a strawberry fan.

The sentence referring to the June crop of strawberries & cherries not being affected ---- note this article is from 2016.
It's a very informative article, thanks Iamrite.
