RIP John Prine
Lost a great American singer-songwriter last night, John Prine. Far too many songs in his catalog to name a favorite.
Many folks know Bonnie Raitt's cover of Angel From Montgomery.
"Sam Stone" is one of the most beautifully depressing songs of all time... I remember hearing it as a young child and picturing a guy with piggy banks for arms... "There's a hole in daddy's arm, where all the money goes...:
This is like losing a family member for my wife and I. Completely heartbroken.
“Just give me something I can hold onto.”
Such an underrated songwriter. Very sad.
This virus is robbing us of many talented souls.
"This virus is robbing us of many talented souls."
Suze is right, we also lost the patriarch of the Marsalis Family!
"Please don't bury me" another John Prine song. He will be missed. He always mixed his lyrics with humor and insight. R.I.P.
I really love In Spite of Ourselves - with Iris DeMent

Also the great Jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli just passed from the virus at age 94. He had many underlying issues but they said the virus did him in.
Never heard of the man but definitely a great talent. I just watched him playing on NPR tiny desk concert, recorded two years ago.
John Prine was a national treasure. Very sorry to hear of his passing. Here he performs "The Jet Set " with Iris DeMent. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dvMt7fGdeY

Spent a few hours listening to many of his songs and reminiscing. What a treasure.
I hope he enjoyed his vodka and ginger ale and kissed that pretty girl when he got to heaven....
