Show us your Fall 2019 Woolly Bears!
Looking to capture pictures of the fall 2019 Woolly Bears. Maybe we have an expert that can predict the winter weather from our pics. Here is one from my back yard in Hackettstown.
Mine the same;we need input from a state away like MD or western PA.
Black = severe, Red = Mild
I think this relates to temp, not snowfall so mild can still mean deep snows.
Think 13 segments, sections, of bear, each corresponding to weeks of winter. Don’t know start/stop time. Don’t know how to see a section. Just looks like more than 50% mild this year
So, Farmers Almanac says cold, bear says cold start/finish, big middle of mild.
In my book, a few decades of research.... bear has about 80% accuracy like a horoscope — you just make it work ;-). However, different states, different bears, different stories and that does not make sense. My test was here and Pittsburgh. Different pictures but bears seem to be similar in each region. Let’s see what folks here find, but mine look like this fellow.
What I have notices is that wb's in one area pretty much the same.
But wb's from different areas, like Halifax, often appear different. Like I said, I used here and Pittsburgh wbs. They have been different, but can't tell you the weather has been between the two areas.
Not going to Halifax in the Spring though :>)
Must be me but i'd never heard of a Woolly Bear until I Googled it yesterday after seeing it here.
(note to self: remember to not accidentally paste into the pornhub search bar)
One question I have always had is: if it predicts 13-weeks, one week per segment, when does it start?
Second is: does the fact that different regions have different markings related to weather OR something else.
Third is: If the accuracy level is the same as my review of my horoscope (with a lot of projecting going on), doesn't that prove both are true :>)
