Bald Eagles in Town!
Not that unusual. The State has tried to keep this a secret for decades. They didn't want the area packed with curiosity seekers. During the winter months the small eagle population would feed from the fish hatcheries. The ponds that contained grown fish would have holes cut in the ice specifically for them to gain access to meals.
I remember one in particular that fed at the Hayford hatchery in the morning... perch on Buck Hill throughout the day.... and feed at the hatchery near the original Morrison Field in the evening.
My mom, being a member of the Audubon Society and an avid eagle spotter was given permission to enter the hatcheries and take photos of them
If you like to see bald eagles check out this location in MD. I was here a few days ago and saw dozens of bald eagles it was amazing. About a 3 hour drive from Hackettstown perhaps a long weekend....

Stop by the Pequest trout hatchery , the eagle is there every day. Once in a while you can see him enjoying a fresh trout dinner as well.

I been taken pictures of the pair Bald Eagles in Hackettstown this pass week . I got a picture of the female Eagle flying over the Hatchery pond getting ready to go down and get a fish. She should be sitting on her eggs soon.
