Oral Surgery

I recently broke a tooth (molar) and need oral surgery to have what is left extracted (recommended by my dentist). I was referred to Dr. Bogart. Anyone have any experience with him and this type of surgery, and cost, etc. I am retired, living on fixed income, and no dental insurance. Any advice would be great.

Myself and my husband have both have used Dr. Bogart. He is top notch in our opinion. He explains everything very thoroughly and has an easy going, but matter of fact personality. He always calls you personally the night of any surgery he performs.

Regarding cost, all oral surgery is expensive. We have insurance so it has been reasonable for us, but I would say his costs are consistent to the area judging from the difference between the allowable insurance amount and his fees.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Bogart is the best.

Both my husband and I have been to https://www.healthgrades.com/dentist/dr-steven-campolattaro-ycn3g --we both think he's excellent and painless - but yes it is expensive.........

Have had oral surgery there. Dr Bogart is who you want to do this surgery.

That being said, I have to tell you he is expensive but they all are.

I was not impressed with the office staff and no talking money breaks.

Been to Bogart three times, all good. The costs are explained to you upfront before they do the work. He's no more expensive than anyone else doing the same thing.

A couple of things you can do is to get a discount dental plan and a Care Credit card that gives you up to a year to pay interest free . Is the tooth infected to the point where Novocaine has no effect on it and you need anesthesia or do you simply go to a dentist who doesn't do extractions ? I had a wisdom tooth pulled pretty painlessly this spring by Dr. Needa Waseem of West Morris Dental who takes the discount plan . Perhaps Dr.Bogart does too . But if you need to be put under costs go way up . Good luck .

I agree with 97xbam. I signed up with Aetna Dental Access and saved several hundred dollars on a crown a week later. Just be sure there is an oral surgeon in your area that participates.

Everyone has been very helpful. I went on-line to research dental plans. Almost as much fun as signing up for Medicare and Part D coverage, lol. It doesn't appear that either Dr. Bogart or Dr. Vandervliet take any of the insurance plans that I found for my zip code. Not promising.

I have had good experiences with Dr Bogart and his associate. Molar extraction with local anesthesia was about $350 or so before insurance.

Not an oral surgeon, but has years of experience in oral surgery.

Dr. George Bork, DDS in Hampton. He will probably be considerably less expensive than a specialist.

I worked for him for 8 plus years and I know he is very experienced with oral surgery.

Tell me about it Dodgeball.

Last year my BF's husband lost his front tooth, got an implant (no temp crown n no perm crown). He would've had to pay $900 out of pocket just for a temporary crown which takes about 20 minutes to make. Heck, I've made them plenty of times. It's quite simple and the materials are not very expensive. As far as the permanent crown, well his insurance won't cover the cost until January.

He's been walking around without a front tooth for over a year.

The zoloff clinic in the doctors park on willow grove also. You can walk in first thing in the morning as an emg and then they will set u up to have it extracted but that will take place in the Dover location only. My husband did this a couple weeks ago and was charged 100$ for the visit there and is going for his extraction next week and will be charged another 200$! They charge with a sliding scale of income!

Dr. Bogart's associate (Dr.Hubert Gugala top of page 8) is on the dental discount plan , although with a Flanders practice listed . If there's no pain and you can afford to wait there's always the Rutger's Dental Center in Newark . Cost me 75 bucks per tooth to get two pulled back in early 2016 . Parking in their parking garage costs a bit more(7.50 for 3 or more hours) than a quarter though !

Yup - Bogart.

Had 2 wisdom teeth removed (awake) with no complications....and it wasn't bad at all.

My dentist did the other two but the teeth came out in pieces, and though it was painless....except for keeping my mouth open for so long...it took much more time.

Yes, Zoloff (sp?) is inexpensive, but their procedures and safety standards are questionable.

My daughter had fillings done there. The assistant did not suction, no rubber dam in place (used to prevent materials going down the throat) and the TF (a metal piece used to hold the matrix band in place around the tooth) came loose. My daughter almost choked on it. She will never go back again.

Dr. Bogart takes Aetna Dental Access. Call and ask. So does his partner. I've used it with both of them. The dental office next to him takes it as well, Jen will give you the best cleaning and care. West Morris Dental, PC of Hackettstown

It turns out Dr. Bogart is booked solid for a while, so I'm scheduled to see Dr. Gugala, his associate. Any thoughts?

I’ve seen Dr. Gugala twice. Both times he took great care of me. I highly recommend him.
