Just Asking 20+ old timers around a bar......believe me! We'll get drinks with no problem. And yes, by all means, everyone under 30 is invited too!

Calico696 Friday the 16th at 7pm at Applebees might be good they have tons of tv's and every game that is on will be on. If you guys will be there I will try to go. Actually the only Happy Hour I have been able to get to was the one at Applebees last March.

My only concern with Smokehouse on a Friday night is that the place gets crowded for dinner. There is not much standing room around the bar. Missarlene may may to comment on this. I would not want to disrupt diners while we are mingling back and forth.
The best thing about Friday Happy Hours (more people can come out) can also create a problem (most places are typically crowded anyway).
While I'm not the world's biggest Applebees fan, their bar area is relatively large and there are also adjacent booths that people with children can utilize. I don't know of many other places that the same can be said for.
Like Firefly mentioned, I'm not sure that Smokehouse can comfortably accomodate 25 HLFers in addition to their normal Friday night dinner crowd. I think the bar seats a maximum of 12 and at least half those seats will be taken by the regular Friday after-work crowd.
As for 5, 6 or 7:00, the start time isn't that important, because people typically come and go according to their own personal schedules anyway. I'll probably go relatively early... before 6, most likely.
i'm confused -- I thought it was going to be @ Bensi's on fri eve? I can make it on Fri and thought maybe Bensi might be a nice change? and closer to my home :]
Trish Applebee's does have a load of bar area and for that reason I think we need to keep it there. Also, not a bid fan but if we are going to get a crowd and I hope we do we wil need room to comfortably mingle.
CB was great for that because quite frankly we were the only ones in there. I just find the atmosphere in the bar at CB lacking. The rest of the place is so interesting. I could totally see the bar at CB with low lighting and couches. There was a really cool martini bar that I used to go to in MD like that. So cool. OKAY sorry totally off track.
PS I will not get to Applebees til about 7 or so.
Like I said earlier Mike and I can't get there until probably 6:30-7. I'm sure many of you who go at 5 will still be there by then so I don't really think time is a problem. I am open for anywhere but I think a place with a large bar area would be best. So to sum it up my opinion really doesn't mean much. lol
If Bensi were interested in attracting a Happy Hour crowd, it seems to me that they would offer food and drink specials. As far as I can tell, they don't... if I'm wrong, please advise.
I dont care, again not a fan of Applebees, but beer is beer. I can always run to Wendy's for something to eat. I go for the place not the place.

The daytime HLers are working on a CC HH for a weekend coming up -- I'll bump the thread up and see what is happening. Possibly next Saturday or Sunday (1/17 or 1/18) ...
We also have set up a Szechuan Royale lunch buffet HH for 1/14 at 1 pm. I'll bump that one up, too.
Hoping to make an evening HH myself sometime, but the nights are kind of tough for me...

I hope I did not miss anyone. We went to Applebees and left then to go to Charlie Brown. We all agreed that Applebees was not the right location for HH. Too crowded, not enough room, there happy hour is from 3 to 6 and their did not seem happy that we were there.

I'll start a voting thread and it will be open for 1 week (at least until noon Friday the 23rd) The next happy hour will be Friday Jan 30th at 6pm.
Good for us that no one else in town goes there. Kind of sad too. Their Prices are high! Love to find some hole in the wall with room for us.
Just a little note from me. If we are going to have HH on Fridays remember Fridays are a busy night in most restaurants specially around 6pm. Applebees is always busy on weekends.

I was there and was going to introduce myself to the folks I recognized from the photo of an older one (plus couldn't miss the TAPS jacket), after I finished eating, but then I noticed they'd disappeared while I still "had the feedbag on".

Firefly - I couldn't even tell who may have been part of the group once John C and those close to him moved away (or out). I left around 8:15 after I finished eating. After a tiring day at work a figured I'd go home and let the dog out rather than start asking random people if they were with the HL group. I was going to say we need "gang signs" to flash, but that could be an invite to being escorted out:-)

No Reggie, I forgot it started at 6 rather than 7 and when I saw how crowded it was when I got there @6:45 or so, I took the only open spot next to the beer taps. I had a couple of Tequila Sunrises, Mozzy sticks and a steak and was planted there until about 8:15.
