Westminster Dog Show
The 142nd show begins tonight! Yay!
Fame(US) a border collie from Sparta NJ won the agility competition this past Saturday in New York.
Possibly my favorite 2 days of the year. ;-)
Google "Fanucci." He's a miracle dog! Rooting for this comeback kid. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets at least best of breed (among the German Shepherd Dogs).
May go tomorrow. The benching area at Westminster is incredible. Assuming it hasn't changed from previous years: you can meet the dogs and speak to people who are intimately familiar with their breed. It's one of the best places to see in-person all the different breeds, and speak with knowledgeable people about them. (For anyone looking to get a dog and trying to decide on a breed, I always recommend visiting benching areas if there happens to be a benched show in their area. This can be particularly helpful if a person wants to rescue a particular breed or type of dog from a shelter, where you most likely won't get to speak with a breed specialist.)
We saw Fame win yesterday (on TV)! He/she? flew through that course in under 30 seconds.
Fanucci has been scratched.

Now I'm really being greedy with information! What time and channel?
Thanks so much

The televised portion is tonight Comcast channel 43 (857HD) FS1 at 8:00PM
Sad about Fanucci. Now I'm rooting for a BIS Coton.
What breeds would you guys like to see win? Some are long overdue for recognition.
I love Weimaraners. We don't own one but I find them to be a great looking animal. It would nice to see one win.
Good info Rebecka. To add, please don’t go to a show expecting a breeder to sell you a puppy. And don’t take it personally if breeders come across as un-interested.
I'm hoping the Westie wins best Terrier, then I'd be split on the Bichon, the Border Collie & the Westie;-) Had both the last two & when the Bichon entered the ring yesterday I had it pegged as the winner. They're awesome, but then again, all three are!
Got to admit though, the new (to judging) American Hairless Terrier has a unique look and that tail...!
If Chris Myers pronounces Westminster incorrectly one more time I'm going to scream!
He corrected himself once so he knows he doing it.
This should be a great finish. Bean the Sussex spaniel looks tough to beat.
Flynn, Bean and the Norfolk terrier (didn't catch name) are all incredibly charasmatic. All 3 look like they really love being the star of the show. Bet the ribbon goes to one of them. Judge has her work cut out for her.
Amazing showing. The Border Collie Slick is one special dog, too... the intelligence in his eyes - wow. Pretty sure he'd beat me at chess.
Burns the longhaired Dachshund is too cute! He won the Hound group last night.
The Sporting, Working and Terrier groups are tonight along with of course Best In Show.
I know all the groups haven't even been judged yet, but we like Bono the Havanese for BIS! What a beauty.
Bono is surely a sweet looking dog.
I will say, as usual every dog in the Terrier group looks like they can win BIS!
Terriers are always my favorite....grew up with an Airedale and have had mini schnauzers as an adult. Loved the Welsh tonight.
i love dog shows and dog people, and love this old bit, Hey! He's got two left feet!

First time ever for a Havanese to win the Westchester- Bono is beautiful and deserved it! Look at that prance:
