Great Meadows Central Pre-K

Hi All,

Does anyone have experience with sending a child to central school pre k? My son is 3 and my wife and I thought we'd give it a shot. We are going to start with 3 days a week for a half day. Any thoughts and/or experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I didn't realize they had Pre k. How does one register and are their requirements to be eligible?

I heard it is combined with their special needs pre k. Very different.

The Lutheran Church has part-time (good for stay at home moms) and Heaven Sent is also good.

TLE is fantastic, but VERY expensive.

Liberty Learning Center has a excellent Preschool/PreK program.

I believe Great Meadows is doing an inclusion PreK - so they take both PreK disabled and typically developing kids. There's probably a registration fee if the student is not classified.

The preschool class at Central is tuition based for children who do not qualify for services. You can do half or full day. There is two classes one for the younger one and one for children that would be entering kindergarten the following year. Both the teachers this year were former kindergarten teachers at Central. I would suggest calling the secretary at Central - Mrs. Ascolese for more information.

The website hasn't been updated with 2017-2018 school year information for the preschool.

I wonder if you live in Hackettstown do you have to pay non resident price. Hackettstown and Great meadows have the.same super.

Having the same super shouldn't affect that - your taxes don't go towards the Great Meadows school district, that's probably the more relevant detail.

Thanks for the info. There is a cost for us and I assumed it wasn't for special needs students. That's disappointing. Can anyone confirm this?

The preschool is inclusion based which means you can a mix of kids. Children that have severe special needs usually have a one to one aide.

Sadly, there is a cost of tuition associated with the program for children not defined as special needs. Also, you may need to research further into the program since some times the programs at the public school at five day a week programs.

Good luck with your search.

Consigliere - if your child doesn't qualify for services through special ed, you would pay tuition to send your child there.

Cherbear - Liberty/Great Meadows/Independence are the ones that are considered residence. Hackettstown would be non resident even though we share a special ed department and Mango.

What I will say is having children that attended Central, it is a wonderful school. I have personally had my own child with one of the preschool teachers (when they were kindergarten teacher) and my nephew had the other last year. Both are great. The classroom size is small too. There is in classroom aides as well. If you really look at the cost sending your child there 5 days a week even half days, it is cheaper verses going to one of the other preschools that are only 2 or 3 hours for 2 days a wek.
