Fighter jet in Hackettstown?
livelovebeatles I saw two yesterday flying at about 4000 feet. I assume they were escorting the Russian surveillance plane that was flying over the east coast. Maybe more of that today.. Also if a plane gets to close to Bedminster these days they would probably scramble some jets.
Peder Trump's in Bedminster. Maybe there was a no-fly-zone violation at the local airport that needed to be checked out? Just a guess...

Also, they should lose their pilot's license, at least for a time. If you can't figure out where a no-fly zone is, you're probably not smart enough to operate aircraft.

Bug3Just happened to catch the pilots on the radio and it sounded like a small plane in the area wasn't responding to their calls. Pilot must not have been monitoring the guard channel. They fighter jets have been around all week since POTUS settled into Bedminster for a vacation. I think they are up there from dawn to dusk - not sure what is happening at night. I've managed to catch sight of them a few times refueling from the tanker that is continuously up there.
RAD Flying CAP in two-ship. There's nothing like it, as long as you have a solid wingman. Since it's a TFR, you can fly FMP, and go to A/B if there is an intercept called.
wbeleno You should see it from the tanker too - it is really cool! Too bad the KC-46 isn't going to have the rear station.
@wbeleno - catching a refueling is pretty hit or miss. They are flying at 24,000 ft so you have to be pretty lucky and have your binoculars at the ready to really see anything. Actually I don't think you can see it from Hackettstown area since they fly their racetrack further to the east - I-287 is about as far to the west as I've seen them go.

Caged Animal Lots of fighter jet activity just a little while ago. It was so loud, I heard it over my blow dryer.
Over Washington also. Was so loud it shook the house. Saw a small plane being escorted/flying next to a helicopter. Small plane must have not known about the air space restriction because Trump is in Bedminster I think.
We heard it, too, just tuned in WRNJ (despite the lousy music) to see if they know what's going on.

CAP practices this often. This picture was taken from one of our planes and used in a Daily Record article.
The helicopter will form up on your wing; the jets will usually pass by slowly.
Tune in Guard on 121.5MHz on your scanner and you will hear the military guys calling the civilian pilot when they intercept them.

CR37 I saw that small plane over my house. The jet was out of my visual because of the woods surrounding my property. I was only able to see a piece of the jet between A gap in some dense Treetops. I bet my chickens won’t lay tomorrow!
Crystal That was definitely a little scary. I grabbed the Missus and we stood in the yard motionless, and heard something in the air a bit more fierce than the usual island dragway rocket cars!
We couldn't see them either, too wooded where we live. The sound was intense and awesome.

Golf Gal All of that noise and burnt up JP-4 over basically a zero risk accidental TFR incursion.
I'm pretty much immune to the sound after having grown up on and/or near a military base. What's both tragic and scary is when one or more of those planes or helicopters crashes.

4catmom Why don't they just transition to drones? 9-11 proved they can't respond in a real emergency. I look forward to watching Maverick but fighter pilots are a relic of the past.

How many Predator drones for a F-16 or F-35. The math and the potential loss of life leave top gun in the past. Offensive satellites is the ultimate, remember the 1980s Star Wars in the Reagan era. We will be there at some point, and when it happens bye bye to planes as these can (will) take out missiles traveling many times faster.
Masks Fortheugly Yes! There were two of them. I was out for a run and one of them poked through the clouds for a couple seconds. They were LOUD and pretty low
