Taqueria Brenda Lee
I've been wanting to try this place for a few months now - it's on Main Street/46 right across from Czig Meister. I went in last night for the first time and got al pastor tacos to go - they were phenomenal! Highly recommend. I will be back - just watch out for the red salsa. It is hot! It turns out they also have a location in Dover which I know has been there for at least a few years.
There is a web site for the overall chain of 5 of them:
http://www.taqueriabrendalee.com/
But that does not have either store #4 in Dover, or #5 which is Hackettstown.
There is a menu there, it doesn't have prices, and without mentioning all the sites, you wonder if it's up to date to still apply. It's got good food though, it's worth trying at least once to see if you like it.
I think I'll get one with beef brains and one with pork snout. Yum!
Really? WTF? I'll stick with the chicken. LOL
GC - I saw that as well but I don't think it's the same owner. It just happens to have the same name. The take-out menu I picked up lists only Hack. and Dover - these three appear to be a separate "chain", plus their menu is different and not as extensive as ours.
The R - I thought of that too, and am not positive. But if they are franchised then it means they are part of the chain with different owners which could explain some differences. The reason why I believe they are related is because if you look up Dover the name is officially Taqueria Brenda Lee 4. And Hackettstown is owned by Taqueria Brenda Lee 5, Inc. The numbers fit in line exactly with the original stores from the website.
PS Calico - You haven't lived until you've had a head cheese taco. ;-)
I'm waiting for the Penns-Mex fusion "scrapple taco". Oh yeah!!
When I saw this title, I thought we lost another oldies singer. From the menu link, chicken seems the way to go for me too.
Do they have seating? Or take out only....and of course I have to ask...Is it BYOB?
I have been there several times and loved it. They have a couple of tables which I sat in and ate. Their gucamole is very spicy...so beware of that. Other than great food..with great size portions at great prices
"Nose to Tail" is all the rage on the foodie scene these days. It might be offal, but it ain't awful (-;
Craft Beer - I doubt they would say anything if you brought in alcohol. Given its proximity, not a bad place to grab it to-go, and head to Czig Meister to eat it!
