Define "not too expensive" as well as "in the area". For some people $35 a person is not that much when it comes to a wedding related event. Others don't want to spend as much as $15. Some people consider Ledgewood or Stroudsburg as too far away, others would consider Budd Lake too far.

Another huge factor is how many people?

There are dozens of previous posts on various restaurants and event halls. You can get ideas there. But without more info its hard to know what would work best for you.

We did my son's at home. It was catered, so no food prep and with disposable plates etc, there was minimal cleanup. It was a beautiful spring night, so people were able to be inside or out. They were able to mingle and and interact with everyone, not just those seated near them at a restaurant setting. It was very casual. All said it was a great time. And the fact that it was much less expensive was and additional perk. I understand not everyone can do it at home, but if you have the ability, it's an option.

Parental Unit, that sounds lovely.
Especially the relaxed, interactive feel to it - great idea!

Thanks pmnssk, it was a lovely evening. All in the bridal party got to know each other before the wedding, which made the wedding more fun for all. Since many of them had never met before. They all felt like old friends at the wedding.

We ordered pizza at the venue where the rehearsal was, which was at the Lodge at Schooley's Mountain Park.
