Delaware Beach Vacation

My sister would like to go to Delaware for a beach vacation this summer. Wondering if any one here has vacationed there and can offer any advice. She will be going with her daughter and grandchildren ( 3years old & 8 years old). Looking more for a house or condo as opposed to a hotel/motel. Thanks for your suggestions and thoughts.

I have been going to Fenwick Island, DE since I was a child. We love to drive our car onto the ferry in Cape May and get off in Lewes, DE then it is just a drive down Coastal Highway. The reason we stay in Fenwick (rent a house Ocean side, but of course bayside is cheaper) is because we are then right next to Ocean City, Maryland. I can just say we love the shore down there, there is a lot to do for family's, and the boardwalk in OC is a blast as well. Plus, the beaches are beautiful.

Rehoboth Beach is listed one of the greatest beaches to go to in DE:

In addition to the beach experience for the kiddies, I'd add this ferry ride/trip on the way back...as it's like putting a cherry on top of their vacation ice cream!

*just make sure you reserve it, and time it wisely on your car-ride back to NJ*

I've done the Cape May-Lewes Ferry and stayed at an inexpensive motel a few miles from Rehoboth Beach.

The park at Cape Henlopen is very nice and a good stretch of beach farther south has also been left to nature.

Saw The Drifters perform at a night spot in Dewey Beach.

Great place for a family vacation.

However, if you're a fan of the Mets and Giants, you may not like seeing lots of cars with Nationals and Redskins bumper stickers, and people wearing red caps with the "curly W."

We stayed in Rehoboth/Dewey Beach area. Rented a house, and took the ferry there. Very nice, quiet and economic compared to other places. Not much to do for kids other than the beach unless you drive to Ocean City.

You can also do the Condo thing at the Sea Colony. they have pools and playgrounds as well. These were pretty nice all things considered.

Thanks for your info..checking out the places mentioned. You're the best!
