2015 Fall/Winter Pet Photos
And now for something completely different. Meet Sydney the snail who was found in a recent bag of grapes.
awe thanks lola - she sends a purr and a nip - lol - that's gracie
ps. Frankie lives at Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary and sometimes makes visits to schools
Love that Gracie, 5catmom...her little nose is outlined as it would be if she was a artist's drawing....
Happy Halloween from Frankendog. Duke had surgery yesterday, & the timing was perfect for spooky stitches. Boo!
Frankendog... complete with green stitches! Poor Duke. Hope he's all better soon, Lola.
Nora says boo to Dante. I see they both inherited the sillycat gene.
Please give Socks a hug for me, Lynnada. Love his grey muzzle; older dogs rule.
And may I introduce Isabel.
Hi Isabel. Of course I'll give Socks a hug for you, that long neck is great for wrapping ones arms around.
FedEx (yes Fedex) just stoped by with a packaged addressed to our new bunny. I kid you not.
Someone has quite the sense of humor.
Either that or you left your computer unattended for far too long. Wait until tomorrow when a 40 ft carrot arrives...
Roflmbo she *does* live in my office. And I'm always signed in to one-click Amazon...
oh, naughty, naughty bunny...
Dear Barney -
"One-click" a blue fin. If you can, swap the shipping address over to me and you can join us later and no one will ever know. At least until the $4000 bill arrives. If not, get the delivery time and me & Sugar will Ninja that FedEx guy...
Bonsai!!
Someone need a ninja? I has skillz!!! I can bring my tall friend Cody too! In case we needz to reach high up or open a door or sumpfin, himz good at dat.
~Lucy Furr~
Wait what I am supposed to do? Whatever it is, it's kinda gonna have to wait til snuggle time is done. Then you'll have to explain it to me very sloooowly. I'm not a fast cat.
Can't stop looking at your puppy pic, JRT. So adorable! Congrats on your new family member!
Thanks everyone!! He is only 11 weeks old...peeing all over the place, chewing everything, and terrorizing the resident dogs so that cute face is the only thing saving him at moment lol!!
He is also very sweet and loves to snuggle though so guess we'll keep him lol :):)
How to discipline a German Shepherd
by Nora
Hop up to the safety of a table, then whack 'em on the snoot when they're least expecting it. Take that, ya big wolf!
Bop on nose!! Bop on nose! Doggie get bop on nose!
Come over my way, and you'll get another bop on nose.
Love the dappled lighting on you in that pic, WS. Very pretty image. No doubt you would be an excellent shepherd disciplinarian.
When Isabel lies down and stretches her little back feet out behind her... omg this tiny creature just kills us with her adorableness!
She insists on massages; wish I got half as many massages as she does!
Rebecka - Have you never met a cat before? ALL cats are disciplinarians - GSD, humans, everything. ;-)
Here's our newest addition, well got her back in June. She is the most precious girl! Here she is after her grooming modeling her hand made knitted sweater! She's such a diva
You do have a point there, GC!
I have seen pics online of rabbits and cats who are friends, Natari, but not sure how that works, really. Pretty sure our cats would go into immediate hunting mode, too. Maybe if Isabel gets really huge (like a 12-lb rabbit!) then I would think about a supervised intro to our lazy couch-potato cat... but until then she's in a space all her own!
@RAS - dogs with fuzzy beards rock!! Someone looks spoiled lol.
Oh Rebecca you have no idea how spoiled she is. Um actually you probably do lol ! It's amazing what joy she brings to us. We feel very fortunate to have her. Now if she would just stop chasing the cats
Rebecca,
A friend of mine has an indoor rabbit and he seems to get along well with the cat.I should mention the cat is a senior. Here is a shot from last summer. Turbo the cat and Oreo the bunny. My cat however would not play fair. LOL
"you have no idea how spoiled she is"
The HAND-knitted sweater kind of gave it away, RAS lol! Chasing cats must be half the fun of being a dog. Besides, it looks like they might be bigger than she is! She probably gets chased right back.
I'm thinking our senior cat would be the one who might enjoy the bunny, too, Natari. I mean the others might enjoy her, but not in the right way... ahem.
Getting ready for Christmas. Max says he's excited about Christmas as long as I don't wake him up for anything other than treats ever again.
Max is adorable. and such a good and patient puppy...The kids have him trained well...
Peekaboo! I got like six new toys but they can all roll away as far as I care. This fun bag-cave is where it's at!
<3 Isabel
Sugar you are ridiculous and hysterical. What are you even doing under there?? Is there a mouse? An invisible mouse that only YOU can see, possibly? Please say you don't actually go under there and take a nap? Someone's gonna step on you! Or trip! You are just too much...
Soooo cute Calico!! Maybe we need a puppy play date with my new little guy. He is starting to drive the other dogs crazy with the constant rough housing and puppy biting :):)
To die for cute! Love the name. Wonder if Simba is JRT's puppy's brother. Wouldn't that be a crazy coincidence!
I met this cutie in the park. Came right up to me touched my hand then followed me for about 100 yards.
Being as cute as a bunny allows you to get away with the most outrageous shenanigans!
Remember the Tribbles from Star Trek? Isabel is a Tribble! Highly recommend a bunny as a pet for stress relief. (Boy did she come in handy yesterday.)
@Natari - wonder if that young deer was hand-raised by a rehabber. That's very unusual behavior... unless a fawn is hand-reared in which case it's the norm. In any case, what a sweet encounter that must have been!
"Psst - Tell her we'll take bunny, she'll believe it..."
As it would so happen, we have a brand new session of Sugar & White Shoes Rabbit Obedience Stew beginning tomorrow at about 10:30 AM. Just drop her off and see the results!!! Remedy ate is guaranteed.
School. SCHOOL, I meant SCHOOL......
Rebecka: What are we going to do with those two??? I'll bet they will be getting coal in their stockings this Christmas! P.S.: And, I know what their answer will be to that......which is: "So, what is your point!"..
Pipsqueak, Gracie, Sylvester, and Peanut have been through obedience school and they are refraining from licking their chops over the thought of freshly caught bunny-- If Sugar and Co. need good behavior models - send them on over.
Oh Lord, I do apologize for that one. Be with the pygmies down there in New Guinea.
If you must know joyful, I just bought some Itty Bitty Pretty Kitty Witty treats. No chance of coal.
No need to apologize. Enrolled them in Boot Camp For Incorrigible Felines. Sergeant Gustav will be by in the morning to collect them.
Nooooooooo! Adding one more customer to Srgt's correction list!
Seriously, though!? Bunny?
That said, I did taste Puffin in my travels (Iceland, very yucky) and some pretty other weird stuff I won't even admit to (Africa) so who am I to judge lol.
Rebecka - If your puffin was yucky you must not have gone to Tapas Barinn. Smoked puffin in blueberry brennivín sauce would change your mind.
As for "Sarge", we got an early morning visit. The ninjas were waiting and sent him packing. In the future, Gustava will now be dancing with the Bolshoi.
I would like everyone to meet Riley, he is a little over 1 year. We adopted him last Saturday and he has melted to our hearts like we have had him forever. He now has a loving forever home :-)
Rebecka I wondered the same thing. i also videoed him, A short clip and I'm no pro. LOL.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZwI7FztdOI&feature=youtu.be
He actually sniffed my hand. I didn't want to interact with him because he is wild. He just strolled on down to me. LOL.
I often wonder what his back story is though.
Natari that is so sweet. Definitely wonder what his/her story is too.
Welcome Riley!! You are very silly to lie down with your back legs like that! Thanks for the laugh.
"...Gustava will now be dancing with the Bolshoi." LOL. Love the tutu pic. And my puffin I think was buried in the ground for a year before being served or something like that. No blueberry sauce could possibly have saved that dish. Worst thing I've ever eaten. Ever! Yuck yuck yuck if anyone ever offers you pickled puffin run for your life.
Rebecka - I've heard the buried a year thing, but with rotted shark, not puffin. I would understand completely if that's what you had.
That is so cute! Kitchen full of adorable little doggies! Something delicious is obviously being handed out.
Ut! Oh! Darrin!...All the women love that Riley. Did he get that look from his Master??
I like to say so Joyful ;-)
When I got him, there was some confusion on what breed he is, the people I adopted him from were told by the shelter that he was a pitbull rottweiler mix, but upon some research he looks exactly like a black mouth cur, what does everyone else think?
http://www.dogbreedslist.info/all-dog-breeds/Blackmouth-Cur.html#.VpLljPkrJD8
I was going to buy one of those dog DNA tests, but discovered that black mouth cur was not in their DNA bank.
Black Mouth Cur - Riley looks like one to me! I'd definitely go with that sooner than Rottie/Pit mix, just based on his appearance. Not sure how accurate those dog breed DNA tests are, anyway. (I've always thought about sending in a purebred swab to see what magical breeds come back in the results.)
Hello everyone.
Now that I moved out of Hackettstown I don't find myself visiting this page as much... I'll try to change that.
fujixt1 - he is adorable, please update us!
All of the HL pets are so cute and compared to some of the human posters very well behaved :-)
"Perhaps some more than others."
Ya got that right, GC!! ;-)
Love this thread. Good to see Niko back, Fuji. Love the name "Ziva," Trekster. And another masterful shot of Tanner, AXD. And before that... Keith's cute little munchkins! Seriously, pet photo threads on HL are awesome!
Rebecka, that's because this is the only thread that you can openly post on without being berated by others, called a racist, or getting lumped into a gun discussion ;-0 let's keep it that way!
pic of the "who the hell is this" from both sides! Johnnie meeting Riley
Grateful for this mild winter and being able to hike in the woods almost every day. Grateful to have these woods. Grateful for these beautiful dogs. And grateful for a second miracle back surgery that went so perfectly I am back to hiking for as long as I want with zero pain. So much to be thankful for eh?! :-D
Isabel has a "friend" named Lambchop. She loves Lambchop. She will often go and lay next to him on the rug, or groom and kiss him, like she is doing here.
However! If Lambchop ever appears in *her* "house," no kidding, he is summarily grabbed by the scruff and escorted back out onto the rug where he belongs. (How dare he enter uninvited!)
I love all the cute pet photos also and am looking forward to the upcoming "romping in the snow" pics!
Good news about your back surgery, Rebecka!
Nosila, I bet Salem is very happy today. Love all the pet pictures posted, thanks for sharing.
Love all the frolicking in the snow!!! Such cute doggies everywhere!
Belle and Gunner getting crazy...
Marcus, Leila and Athena. The two girls tried to leave the driveway and discovered it's pretty hard to get around when the white stuff is above your shoulders! So much fun. Even the senior boy did some hopping around.
Socks on the potty trail last night. The snow was at least as high as a greyhound's thigh! At least I got him a little better area dug out down on the lawn today. He's not thrilled about the snow, he can't get to the far corners of the yard.
It kinda looks like Socks has a hat on!!
"Potty trail" - exactly. Great name for what so many dogs are using today. And cat owners are snickering that they don't have to shovel one!
Thanks for the pictures. Beautiful doggies. I missed taking a video of my 1 year old longhaired black cat, Cinder, who got a bit too frisky in the snow. She jumped on a 3 ft. pile, sunk in, freaked out, and scratched her way down to the bottom so that she could jump out. Hilarious! It would have "gone viral", but I don't think she will do it again.
Socks is wearing a snood, he even left it over his ears during the blizzard, to cover his head and neck. It's a fleece tube to cover the head and long neck of greyhounds since they have short fur and less body fat than other breeds to keep warm in winter.
One time, silly me, saw what I thought were doggie snoods in Walmart. They were actually coats for small dogs, lol. I figured it out when I saw it had 4 holes for legs instead of one for the leash, duh!
That is too cute - a dog who loves his snood! You could have stuck his ears through the arm holes of the little dog coat. :-P
Does Neko like her boots as much, I wonder?
He usually hates the snood, yesterday's blizzard changed his mind temporarily. Today he wore the snood, but started rubbing on everything and beating me with his head to get his ears out, so I slid it back and pulled his ears out for him.
Omg, I wouldn't even want to attempt dog boots. I'm sure he would hate them. I tried to put a baggie over his foot once to soak it and he flipped out, you'd think I was trying to kill him with a warm compress and baggie.
Dogz.
Potty Trail? Filthy. Boots? Not happening. OCD jumping around in the snow? What ever happened to a nice calm snooze in the sun curled up with a nice rug.
Dogz.
Bunny's cool though.
omg Tanner is fabulous as are his photos - the bunny--- hilarious ---white shoes - get a grip
White Shoes - Hoping my OCD frisky emulates your mellow cat soon. Maybe she will also stop waking me up at dawn by pouncing on my sensitive body parts. She has to stop being a kitten and grow up sometime, right? Very nice picture of a good looking, relaxed feline.
DannyC - That's not a cat that belongs to White Shoes. That *is* White Shoes. ;-)
She's relaxed in the pic, but I can tell you in the morning when daddy doesn't want to get out of bed she plays "bop on nose". I understand completely...
This is Punkin, since Romeo's passing she is senior critter in residence. As you can see, Punkin is drinking from the dog's bowl as she takes her position as alpha female seriously. She tells the younger cats when they are bothering her and need to stop playing. Punkin - she who rules them all.
wow - all 4 on the bed- and Gracie and Pipsqueak are not "bothering" eachother - amazing ---
ok - left to right - Peanut, Gracie, Pipsqueak, Sylvester
I often like to take my late morning nap right here on mum's desk chair and it's just too bad if she has any work to do. Obviously, I'm much too cute to move.
<3 Izy
Tanner has the right idea, it was a beautiful day today! I love all the pictures. Here's one of Boo with her bear, still too cold outside for her.
Somewhere there is a list of Naughtiest Rabbits Ever to Have Lived.
I intend to be in the top ten.
<3 Isabel
Fluffer snuck up on napping Daddy and Riley looking to attack, all while the fish watched helplessly!
RAS - She is a house rabbit (not in a cage). The list of misbehaviors is long. I hardly know where to start.
This morning's fun involved emptying all of the bedding of her litter box onto the floor of the bunny room (room previously referred to as my study, and in which I am (for the moment) still allowed to keep a desk; but a room which has in every respect been taken over by a rabbit). That only took a few minutes, though. So she then had plenty of time to jump up *onto* my desk, sending papers flying to the four corners of the room. So imagine what that looked like when I walked in: bunny on desk, litter box contents and my important papers all over the floor.
Mind you, I have of course thoughtfully constructed every bunny "activity center" and "fun house" to be found on the Internet. She has a veritable rabbit village of cardboard houses and a floor full of toys which are supposed to keep her engaged.
But she is unstoppably mischievious.
(I wouldn't trade her for the world's best-behaved bunny, though. The look on her face when I opened the door and caught her on the desk in the middle of mayhem was priceless.)
My daughter's dwarf rabbit chewed every electrical cord in her room, plus ate the legs off any Playmobil animals left out, or papers...rabbits can indeed be very mischievous!
I had no idea rabbits are so mischievous. And how high can they jump? I was wondering how the thing got up on the chair!
@RAS, our rabbit was a Netherland dwarf, about the size of a guinea pig, and could easily jump onto the bed. I imagine the bigger ones can jump higher.
White Shoes: "can't got questions..." made me laugh out loud.
3wb - that is so cute. Weiner doggies have the right idea.
RAS - pretty high. There are even "bunny hopping" competitions which are apparently very popular... in Sweden. No idea why. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qM9YWm6T_hc
And I hope we see many more pics of Milo-- soon! What an adorable pipsqueak!
Stop, you guys are cracking me up with the rabbit stuff! I might have to get one (jk, my cats and Boo would rip it to shreds).
I can't get enough of these pet photos!!!!
Georgie is joining the above snugglers today, curl up in bed and sleep until it gets warm!
Sugar, just that I couldn't get a rabbit even if I wanted to. I wouldn't want it to get hurt!
RAS - Please forgive my cat, she's just looking for a good meal as if she wasn't fed CONSTANTLY already. ;-)
Thank you Jennymc for taking and posting the pictures of my Miss Kitty (She is Birman/Ragdoll).. I do not know how to share her through photos and appreciate you doing this for me on HL. Plus I just love her and want to show her off to everyone.
Oh yeah, I get up with my mommy to do my business then it's back to bed until 11:00 or so...mommy has things to do but not me!
Love Boo
