Where to get clothes made in the US (a.k.a. not made by children)

I just watched the most disturbing video about who actually makes clothes for all major retailers. Children, in places like Bangladesh. It makes perfect sense, why stores can sell clothes so cheap. I realize this is has been going on for many many years and is not new, but for some reason I care enough now to stop buying my clothes at the local retailers. Keep in mind, I am a guy and don't buy clothes often so this maybe easier for me - although I will say that it is NOT easier for me financially as I live paycheck to paycheck like many people, but I am prepared to 'save up' for more expensive clothing if I can be sure it wasn't made by children.

I googled 'clothes made in america' and there are many places to purchase clothes, but anyone can put up a website and say whatever they want, so I ask you HLifers...does anyone have any suggestions on stores or Internet sites to purchase clothing that is made by adults, working under American-like labor laws?

These guys were just on shark tank. Their clothes look really nice. While I like the idea, my 569's cost $35 on sale. Not sure I could pay $155 for a pair of jeans.

I saw a site selling khaki's for $52, which I wouldn't mind paying for non-child made brands.

My mother was a seamstress a long time ago, as was my grandmother. American garment workers aren't (or at least weren't) treated all that much better than Bangladeshi children... maybe we should just all go naked, lol.

So brown bear watches Last Week Tonight with Jon Oliver? Saw that too. Nothing new it's old news but as long as U.S. Customers want affordable clothes that's where they are made.

Made in America and affordable are not words that go together a lot these days

oh Darwin you caught me, but please don't paint me with your broad strokes. define affordable? I don't think you mean affordable, I think you mean 'cheap'. i said in the first post that it's an old issue and yes I expect to pay more and am fine with that. I was just curious if anyone had gone down this road and had good experiences with a particular brand.

btw, i checked the tag on my walmart khaki's and sure as *@!>(* it's made in bangledesh oy vey!

Lol the show is great and does a great job on topics that are not always on everyone's mind but should be.

And yes if you are shopping at Walmart you are going to find your clothes are made by a 12 yr old girl is some 3rd world country

Just because something is not made in the US doesn't mean it was made with sweat labor. The price of something is not easily traced to cheap labor. Many inexpensive items are made with machines. This has reduced the cost of many items.

At the same time, higher prices do not mean it wasn't made with cheap labor. Do you think Ralph Lauren is paying US wages to his shirt factory simply because he's charging $75 for a $1 shirt?

If you're that concerned, research who has committed to fair labor practices and support that -whether it's made in the US or not.

You can search around for clothing made by inmates. I know some companies use inmates to make jeans,.
