Reggie - I also have a strawberry shortcake fan in the house. I will keep you in mind if she ever decides that she no longer wants to keep her collection of Strawberry and Friends dolls... But presently, she still loves Strawberry.

The big requests in our house for the soon to be 7 year old are American Girl doll, the DS (and games) and an I Carly camcorder. With a birthday 3 weeks before Christmas, it is still a lot to ask for.

They grow up too fast.

My youngest turns one a week before Christmas so I bought her Elmo Live for her birthday... she loves Elmo! And for Christmas I am giving her lots of Sesame Street and Baby Einstein.

My thirteen y/o wants her own Xbox 360 and skinny jeans. My son (age 20)wants a flat screen tv and my other daughter (age 18) wants a digital camera and an iPod.

Every year their wish list gets more and more expensive. *sigh* All I want for Christmas is not to need a second mortgage to pay for it all....lol. ;-)

She is 13 years old... Thank you for the compliment....

She already has an ipod..

I mean what more could she want.. She already has me :)

Bessie, My son actually all my kids love music. I do too but they get it from hubby (musician in him)

He plays them believe it or not. They look for that sound. My house is full of turntables. He also likes the covers. They make great art.(so he says another trait from relatives)

I guess he could be asking for something really expensive.

Buy her a gift card to the rocaway mall it has a visa end and can be used everywhere and unlike the visa/mastercard giftcards no additional fee for the card... Does she have a nintendo ds.... perhaps get her a gift cert for a pedicure & manicure it will make her feel like a grown woman

thats to funny my husband keeps telling my daughter that too and she's only 4 and thank goodness isn't anywhere near interested in boys. Does she have uggs or a mani/ pedi is a great idea. What girl doesn't like to be pampered.

OK what are uggs..... Manicure and pedicure might work also

A flat iron hair straightener is always fun! Unless her hair is already pin straight. :-) Or bring her to a salon for a haircut, just a few highlights and make up, make over kinda thing. Is 13 too young for that? I'm sure she would like to learn how to use make up appropriately by a professional. Ed, how are you with make up tips? I bet pretty good. :-)

Ed - i am only 22 so i remember most things i wanted when i was 13...... get her a $50 gift card to victoria secret for a real bra or even there perfumes. She will love it or if you dont want her having fancy bras yet get her a victoria secret love spell set its the most amazing body spray perfume lotion on earth!!!! Ummm Katy....Ed's daughter is 13. IMHO I really think Victoria Secret is best saved for someone a bit older.

Ed if your daughter wanted Uggs I really think she would of asked for them FYI they run 125 bucks or more.

iTunes gift card is always a good gift. Ringback tones for her cell phone. Mani and pedi would be nice. Is she into any sports? Maybe something that goes along with the sport. I think it is always great to buy tickets for a show and go together...make it an outing. Mama Mia on Broadway is great. You could go to a matinee and have dinner. Very grown-up and amking some nice memories too.

Ed not sure how much you are looking to spend but here are some ideas..

If she likes to go to the movies you can get her movie passes and give them with some candy.

Also Uggs are expensive but all the teen girls I know want them!! You can get the slipper type which are cheaper than the boots and still cool.

Also a lot of the young girls all want Coach purses -these are very expensive I am actually suprised how many young girls have these but if she takes care of her things and is into name brands she would probably love this.

Bath and body works is a good place to get scented lotions which she should like also.

Or Maybe a digital camera is she doesn't have one. You can get a good deal if you look around.

It all depends on what her interests are. Hope this helped :)

Ed, (I am not sure how this turned into the Ed Thread but whatever) Even if she does not need a bra at 13 she mostly wants one. Hell I know a couple of 35 year old women that dont need bras but they wear them. If she does not own one yet, maybe I would hold off on the victoria Secret GC. You dont have a girlfriend that would take her shopping for one? Or a sister? Or a woman who is close to your family?

My 13 y/o daughter pesters the heck out of me for mani/pedi's. But she doesn't ask for them for Christmas, she wants them for the holiday formal dance before Christmas.

Ed, what is your daughter in to? Is she a girlie girl? An intellectual? a bookworm? an athlete? I'm going to venture a guess here and say that she isn't telling you what she wants because she wants to see how well you know her or if you listen to her.

Here is the safest gift to give any woman of any age. Jewelry! When I was 13 I was given a gorgeous pair of sapphire (my birth stone)earrings. Something simple and not gaudy. Jewelry also acknowledges she is growing up and can be trusted to take care of something nice.

I personally wouldn't give my child a gift card for Christmas. This is only my opinion but gift cards to me are thoughtless and kind of a cold gift. It says I dont know anything about you so here is some cash disguised as a gift. I mean no offense to those who give them. It is just my personal feeling about them.

Good luck! If I think of anything else I will post it. :-)

Ed - I know some listed Coach bags, but another very popular bag is by Vera Bradley. You can look them up on line and there are a few stores in the area that carry the brand. (Frogmore and some in Chester). These have become very popular with the teen idols and have carried to the other girls as well. Comes in lots of fun sizes and colors. These are fabric bags - well made with lots of good pockets and stuff. Much less than coach and still very popular. Just pick a pattern in her favorite colors and she will have fun.

13 is a tough age - the girl may be more mature (mentally I am thinking) than her peers or still a little girl. Only you know what is best, but you have a lot of good ideas here.

Good luck.

BTW - you should print out this thread and give it to her as well so she knows all the thought you put into trying to find her the perfect gift! That will show her a lot.

Ed if you go with the coach bag idea, go to the outlet in the crossings, I got my younger sister one (think 17) for 50 bucks there! It's not a huge one, it is the square one that is the smallest *purse* type bag they sell (think much larger than the wristlet, but much smaller than their others) but it is a very popular size with young girls and she LOVED it. Can't go wrong with a 50 buck gift that makes someones day. :)
